Thread: Beam Weapons?

Greetings all,
I just started Commando this weekend, and I was wondering how useful the*beam* weaponsare;ie Particle, Acid etc. I haven't seen a lot of talk about them on the boards, and was wondering if they are even worth buying. I have also noticed that they are a little hard to come by on the weapon vendors.

I assume you are reffering to the consumable heavy weapons. They aren't not that usefull since they are slow, have poor accuracy, have damage and ap similar to other, non-consumable weapons weapons that can use specials to significantly enhance their damage (dx6b rifle (heavy acid launcher), t-21 (heavy particle cannon), llc (heavy lightning cannon, and power hammer (rocket launcher), and run about 1k per shot or higher. The only weapon that has an ap advantage is the rocket launcher (AP3) vs power hammer (AP2), but the speed and cost make up for the 50% decrease in damage. They are fun to shoot off though.
