Thread: Launcher Pistol Effectiveness With The New BH Change

that is actually the path I am headed on now.
I was heading for master commado (at 3441 now) but with the weapon switching delay anthing big gets close and pretty dead since I can't switch to the VK's (that delay after a flame special is just crazy, I'm master TKA also)
So, I'm going to put commando on hold, just going to drop the one acid rifle box for the 5 points, and hope the combat balance is our saviour.
Looking at my end skills being Commando 3440, BH 0044,TKA 4004 which will still give me somedefense and let me use theLP or scatterdepending on resistswhen solo so I'm not taking insane damage, let me playwith the LLC, and I still keep my commando skills so oneday I can hopefullyfinish off commando to masterafter the balance.

I'm thinking of Master Pistoleer, BH Pistols 4, Smug pistol line, and Novice commando.

Nyracasso, I do believe you stole my idea. lol
I too tried out the Launcher Pistol recently, without a certification even. I like the feel of the gun... And as I'm climbing Pistoleer and BH Pistols, I was firing the thing pretty fast... Explosions everywhere! It was cool!
Now with the BH skill changes, I'll have enough points to snag the dirty fighting line and Novice Commando, while keeping all my Pistoleer and Bounty Pistol skills. (Boy, the hardcore MBH's are mad about that.)

I tried out the launcher pistol for the first time today. And boy, I liked it a lot. Not because I did a lot of damage or was able to pull off impressive specials with it. I have no pistol skill mods other than the ones coming from marksman. I just liked the feel of the weapon when I fired it, and all the nice explosions. Fast for a heavy weapon and the range is pretty acceptable as well, I thought.
Anyhow, with the bounty hunter prerequisite being changed, I was wondering how this could really make the launcher pistol be very effective. If we take the bounty pistol column in bounty hunter, maybe even add smuggler dirty fighting on top of some pistoleer skills (even master pistoleer), wouldn't that really make this neat little weapon something that is well worth to carry?
Of course, in order to master pistoleer, have bounty pistol column, and have dirty fighting column, you pretty much have to drop all of commando except for that novice box that grants the launcher pistol certification. I know I might be pushing it too much, since I will be giving up the flame thrower and all the nice amenities from the commando profession. I don't even know if this path is even worth it. I might be just too hyped with the brief initial encounter using the launcher pistol... I don't know.
What do you all think?

I'm a Master commando/ master smuggler. I love the launcher pistol. good start in combat, I use the smuggler low blow then healthshot 1, then flip to ft and flame single 2. Must things don't get a chance to get back up. But now since the patch 9 came in it's harder to keep them on the ground and change weapons. but it still a great combo

You forgot Scout 4-0-0-0 (pre req for BH). So you'll have to switch things up a bit.

Problem is, you won't be able to use your launcher pistol to get pistol experience... Despite the fact that it uses pistol skill mods and abilities, the thing only gives heavy weapon experience.
So I guess I'll be sticking to my scatter pistol for a while. Launcher will have to be my little treat when I'm all finished with my template. lol

b/c i hate pistols, here's what I'm going to do to "fix" commando for myself
Master Commando
1/2/0/0 Carbineer (Speed 40, accuracy at 80)
0/3/0/4 Bounty Hunter (Bumps carbine accuracy up to 120 speed up to 80) and of course gives me access to the LLC

Im currently TKM/Pistoleer/ Commando 0030 and the LP tears through turrets and AT-ST like a hot knife through butter. I still dont understand the logic behind that weapon though:
- commando only weapon
- no pistol mods in the commando tree
- LP uses pistol skill mods
- LP gives heavy weapon xp
Easily the most screwed up weapon in the game
Going back to master commando once ive had my fun with this template

I agree with you. Launcher pistol should have its own specials and mods coming strictly from the commando skill tree. I don't think it should work with pistol mods and specials, but have its own unique mods and specials. I wouldn't think this way if commando only required 92 skill points like the other elite professions, but since we are a hybrid requiring 169 points to master, this weapon, being a heavy weapon and giving heavy weapons experience, should deserve some attention in getting a fix.
