Thread: Is there more nerfs?

A lot of the worries are about the the CB looming...
The devs have pretty much promised to "Balance" the game based on skill point cost, accuracy, speed, HAM cost, etc...
For some, like us, this is a VERY GOOD thing, as we have often felt weaker then we really should be based on our costs and pre-reqs....
For other professions who have been seen as overly powerful compared to others, this is seen as an upcoming NERF...
No one knows exactly what the CB will entail...but I honestly believe it's a good time to be part of a profession that is in a 3 way tie for highest skill point cost...has the most combat pre-reqs of any profession...and is considered by many (including the devs) to be a one-trick pony...
Even if the Devs don't up our power levels and keep our damage output at the same level, they still see us as the being the heaviest hitters in the game...this means other professions will be balanced with us being at the high end of the scale...And yes, as far as I know, they are taking Damage Per Second (DPS) into consideration in the Balance...
I cant believe the DEVs have actually acknowledged this Garvin. Was this in the corospondent forums? It would be nice for them to say it here.
So they do believe we should be the heavy hitters? This is all new information to me but gives me a ton of hope. Thanks for popping in here and saying this... we need something besides bad news.

TH has stated it in a few places...can't remember the exact locations...but in the Correspondent forum he has stated more then once that Commandos are impacted by the CB more then any other profession. He and a Programmer have also stated (over there) that Commandos are suppose to be the Heaviest Hitters in game (with weak defenses because of our power)...
This was one of the reasons I was even given for us not getting the Cert for Bomb Droids...When I brought up that, techically, we aren't the heaviest hitters when it comes to DPS, I was repeatedly told "Just wait for the CB, things will change"...
And recently I started a special thread in the Correspondent forum regarding the future of the Commando profession...In it I asked the other Community Correspondents how they thought Commandos should be...Just about all of them agreed (especially now that we are in a 3 way tie for skill point cost) that when they think of Commandos, they think of the heaviest hitters in the game...That we should be "The Soldier sent in when something big needs to be taken down", but because of our strength, weakness must come as well, which inturn results in our lack of defenses (which would lead to us being "covered" by other professions in the GCW as we do our "jobs")...
TH even went as far recently as bascially stating that of the 3 top skill point cost professions, Commandos are the only ones who really PAY for the powerwe get...Some took that to mean skill point cost equals power...I was quick to point out that we also PAY via restrictions, penalties, poor accuracy andpoor speed...To me, this would mean that any profession that wants more power is going to have to PAY for it like we do...and other professions with high power will either PAY or will be reduced in some way via the CB (and yes, in his various hints about the CB, TH has said that DPS has been taken into consideration as well)...
Hope this all makes sense...

so does this still mean we are goingto have a big hit but we miss 90% of the time?
That is a good question...nobody outside the Devs/Programmers knows yet...all we know is that Accuracy is going to be changed the way it processes...As far as I know, we may still suck at accuracy, but not so much that we are outdamaged (DPS) by other professions ALL of the time...
The Combat Balance is going to become a very large portion of the discussion in the Correspondent forum very soon...TH has promised to start giving us info soon...so as soon as I know (and have permission to pass along) you all will know...
We may have to wait awhile for this all to go live, but news should hopefully not be far away, and testing should hopefully also begin soon for many of us...

YES! I was becomming so disheartend with the lack of any responses. Thank you Garvin. My main character is a Master Commando/TKM on Gorath and I was becoming very bord. Do you know if we will be able to test the CB when it is in testing? I am grinding a character on TC right now towards Commando....again. Names Dysinn Rahl. I'll send you a tell sometime.
Here is what I know so far about CB Testing:
- The Combat Balance Test Server will be code-named "The Sandbox"
- TH and the other devs have said that Correspondents and Veterans will be able to test the Combat Balance on the Sandbox when it goes online. How the Veteran status will be decided on has not been revealed yet. I have been encouraging Commandos to train on TC just in case the devs make a copy of that server again for the Sandbox as they did with the Jedi Test Server (make sure you have extra resources, deeds, etc incase you need them...don't count on being able to buy what you need on the Sandbox...that has been a problem on the Jedi Test Server)...
- The Sandbox will go online somewhere around Publish 10 (possibly before, possibly after)
- The Combat Balance is "tentatively" scheduled to go live with Publish 11...this is mostly rumors as it hasn't been OFFICIALLY confirmed...the only Dev response I've seen to this has been from JustG back when he posted his last "State of the Game"...he originally posted that it was pushed back to Publish 11, but then took that back stating that they are trying to see if they can get it to come earlier...so nothing is for sure yet on the timeline.
- The CB will change the combat formulas for Damage Done, Accuracy, Speed & HAM Costs.
- Armor may (and probably will) be impacted by the CB regarding it's resists levels (the devs have hinted that they never planed on Composite having such high resists)...
- TH has stated that Commandos are impacted by the CB more then the other professions (this could be good or bad...but I'm betting on good, since we already live in the bad...lol)...
- TH, in a past 19 Answers post, told us that our Heavy Weapon mods will go back to using a general blanket Heavy Weapon Skill mod instead of seperate ones for each one. This could mean all our Heavy Weapons or just our Consumables (don't know for sure yet). He did state that our heavy weapon mods would be removed from their current tree and grouped together in another place (we won't be relying on just looted skill mods as some worried about according to a later reply from TH)...
- TH also reported that Heavy Weapon lootable skill mods are going to be working for us...this could mean that current ones will work, or that we'll have all new lootable Heavy Weapon skill mods dropping.
- In that same response from TH, we were told that we are possibly getting a New Tree added to Commando...but the Nature of that tree hasn't been finalized yet...they have a few ideas they are kicking around (and we've submitted lots to them)...
- TH once told me that many of our Top 5 issues are addressed in the CB..."Addressed" being the key word...this could mean "fixed" or this could mean "we took your issues into account when we did this"...
That's about it...Last I heard, TH is buried neck deep working on something that may be related to "Info regarding the Combat Balance"...so I'm a bit wary of disturbing him at the moment...lol
