Get both, the smuggler's dirty fighting tree is a must with the launcher pistol. Commando just plain rules PvE. I also have carbineer 4312 which is awesome in PvP.

Gotta agree with Axik on this one. I mastered Smuggler and am now doing the Commando trees. The combo of Dirty Fighting along with pulling out a Flamethrower is awesome. Heck, you need Unarmed 1-4 for both of them anyway....
Also, doing Smuggler and Commando saves you a ton on all the slicing you get done on your weapons, as everything Commando is sliceable, even grenades.

Currently I am Master Pistoleer, Master Smuggler, Commando 0,0,2,0. But i am considering dropping smuggler to just dirty fighting 3. Low blow and panic shot are great in pvp, gives u time to run up and flame. So looks like master commando is in the near future for me.

Are you saying that the Smuggler specials and work with Using a flamethrower? Let's say panic shot then run up and Flamesingle2?

I have enough skill points for only one full line in either Smuggler or Commando, and I was wondering what the smuggler community would say was the strong points of the smuggler profession, and maybe some of you have been a commando, so you would have extra experience. Which line in smuggler is the ''best'' would you say, if you had to choose one?

It depands on what your other skills are and what your planning on doing. PvP or PvE, or are you not interested in combat and just want to craft and sell spices.
If your a Pistoler or a Bounty Hunter then the Smuggler Dirty Fighting tree. You get Last Ditch at or close to the speed cap as well as Feign Death. Also you'd probably make more money killing Mokk's and Janta's then you would going Smuggler and selling spices or slicing (most people look for a Master Smuggler for slicing needs).
With the Flamethrower tree in Commando you get a nice dot but with the slow weapon speed, low accuracy, and 3-5 second delay in switching weapons you may still be better off with using pistols. If you have no other pistol skills then go Commando and the Flamethrower tree.

well you could do what i did... go for all of both!!!
its fun, you've got a flamer, and you slice 90k mission runs on dant, and 120k mission runs on dath...
and rocket launchers are fun.... i shot a jedi w/ one....
