Thread: Our weapons Exp cap and our DOT.. idea that could work

OK garvin.. i know everyone has ideas and your really busy, but i hope you have a look at this and add your views as i hope everyone else will.


OK we all know the thing about the combat exp *nuff said* but i am not talking about that.. or the grind in anyway... this is a idea for a general fix for our heavy weapons exp cap. As it stands.. we are capped at 3k heavy weapons exp, this means if you kill one of the higher lvl MOBs or animals.. the most you can get in heavy weapons exp is 3k (altho it can be a bit more in some cases, e.g i've got 3026 heavy weapons exp from a kill b4, and 300X is common). But this only happens IF we don't get a DOT or burn on our target.. and so for the HAM that is lost from the burns means we get less exp from that kill.. so often you end up getting 2k to 2.5k per kill, on something that would give you 3k when not using a DOT special.

So my idea.... it's simple really.. if they *the Devs* don't think we should cap at 5k like the other combat proffs, and they say that we have to wait for combat revamp to get our DOTs back (by this i take it to mean loot rights and exp) then why can't we have this until then? i don'tthink it would be too hard to code. Maybe we canget a virtual 5k cap. Let me explain: when we kill something that would get us say our 3k cap now without DOT, then we should virtually get 5k for that kill, now if we don't use out DOT fine.. it's all the same.. we only get 3k fine.. we are still in reality capped at 3k, but if we use our DOTs.. then the exp loss should be from 5k not 3k.. and so maybe we might loss 1k exp for using our DOTs.. but that would make it 4k and our cap kicks in and we get 3k exp and we used our specials and our DOTs helps use get the job done fast.


I really think this would be a good way for us.. it will mean that when we fight the harder stuff.. and have to use our DOTs (or just need to get the job done quickly) we are not at a disadvantage for using our specials.. and it's wound make it all ok to see some one get 5k for some thing that you also killed the same of and get less than half the exp they get... 3k may not be much better than 2k or 2.5k but over time and kills it matters... and when we kill things like enranged rancors (which have 100% heat) instead of getting 0 exp.. we might start with 5k but cos all the damage done was from burns.. we might loss 3k of exp or even 4k of exp.. but 1k or 2k is better than 0 exp (well at least for the amount of rancors i've killed)


So understand my idea? like my idea? think it could work?

if you said no to one two or all of the above questions plz explain, no flaming plz.. i just want to see if i got something wrong, or maybe i forgot something.

Also wana add something or make a comment plz do


Lastly garvin.. what do you think.. a snowballs chance in hell with the devs?

Thanks for reminding me of that issue...I brought it up several times over the last month but still have yet to hear back regarding our XP cap...I'll bring it up again today to see if I can generate some type of response...


There is definite backing for increasing our XP cap since a lower cap puts us at a disadvantage when it comes to FS XP Exchanging...

In addition, try using some other weapon specials as well. Like using LP with pistol specials. It isn't much but you can at least get some more in the meantime. using grenades and RL can also help since you don't have to worry about the weapon change
