Thread: A Real Dilema, please help me Commando's!

Hi all,
Ok i'm having real problems with my setup, by that i mean i can't fully decide one way or another on what to take.
Background info, I've been some form of melee prof since launch, tried a little of marksmen before and also tried BH at launch.
Ok now i completely stripped away all Melee except unarmed, i took up the idea for going with Commando for kicks and giggles "got a bit fed up with pvp see".
So commando direction i headed, i then picked up pistoleer techniques 2 for the Geo blaster and BH pistols 4 for speed/acc and specials. Hey i thought, might be ok for PvP and still have Master Commando..............................
Now a problem again, PvE, I went to the corvette last night with friends, we didn't complete it but we took down several SBD's with only 4 of us, me being the only commando "at this time i should state im not a master yet"but i found myself using only pistols, as everyone was targetting the blue bar, i had to use eye shot with my scatter pistol. I did try a few acid beam cannon shots but it didn't do anything to comment on.
Last that night I went with a friend to Dathomir and some NS hunting, now my LP works well here, just over 400max dmg on it and of course hitting at the speed cap "1/sec" so that wasn't bad, except for when they hit me with melee, ouch. Now remember I have always been melee before now, and the difference in lower melee defense and NO melee dmg mitigation is HUGE!
So I hit a crossroads, do i........
1.) Keep going for master commando and finish my intended setup which is (BH 3x4x, Pistoleer xx2x MC) which equals to melee defense +34, no melee dmg mitigation and defense vs KD +5 "I'm a sitting duck for anything tbh, no pvp for me and pve im dead unless someone is tanking

2. Change it for more of a PvP and better PvE setup using some form of melee/defense stacking like - (BH 3x4x Pistoleer xx4x, Fencer 444x and novice medic for healing) Now this means i would have to drop commando completely and unarmed to free up points.
My point being is that Commando takes up a lot of points, and tbh its amazing how weak we are in terms of getting hit in melee range when most of our weps are close range "flamer/grens" PLUS the fact that ALL mobs in the game 9/10 come up to you at melee range, we die to easy being the commando's we are.
Now there are other factors here too, I'm sick to death of PvP in this game coming down to who gets a better defense vs ..... and who KD/dizzy the other first, thats why i gave up on melee and kinda walked away from PvP, although my setup would be a Jedi hunter, I figure that at least would be fun to take some friends along and create some content for ourselves.
So what do you think I should do, I ask here coz everyone on this forum is nice and friendly, so I would get honest answers, I want to do some pvp in terms of hunting Jedi and so on, but also want to hunt the hard mobs for nice loot in the game, but i dont want to have to be a melee stacker to do this, any suggestions on how I can still keep commando for this?

Im sticking in with commando for a bit to see what the combat revamp does, commandos are getting a whole newbranch to use when the revamp goes live, or so they say, they are moving the flamer and the har into the same branch.
I hope for the sp we have to spend the commando will actually be able to be involved in missions which reflect our skill cost, in order to make commando more viable I did what alot of commandos are doing by grapping tka for the defences and the melee mitigation 3.
And for ranged mitigation sucking, yep it does, even st's go hand to hand against me most of the time and in almost all combat im involved in it takes a matter of seconds for the npc's to drop their gun and go melee. This needs to be sorted i want to have a battle with guns not bloody vibroknucklers and swords.

I hunt Jedi all the time and have been very successful with it. Plus this is the most fun template I've ever had, and wouldn't change it for the world.

A template to consider would be:
Master Commando
0030 BH (BH pistols)
0300 TKA (Melee mitigation 2)
Novice Medic
Probably not so good in PvP but nice in PvE.

well thx for the replies thus far.
In reply to the player who has the same setup and loves it, you have the same thinking that i was on, commando being fun, but truth to tell all things going boom is great an all, but dying to almost everything in the game is not fun, its how they have made the game to be shaped around melee, mobs and players 
I never saw anyone in the films using melee except the Jedi "sabers of course" but its a game and balance is whats needed, unfortunately we got to wait for that 
I think if i went with fencer skills, purely for the defense bonus it gives and stick with the pistols "which i love" that might work better, but it means no go for commando 
I think ill play about on TC to see what its like.

ah ha, quick idea to at least keep some of commando

Commando x1xx "to keep the skill for base takedowns + LP"
Fencer 44xx
This now gives me Ranged dmg mit 2, Melee dmg mit 2 and higher melee and ranged defense too, so im tougher, also its obvious the main wep of choice is pistols here, geo/scatter/lp so dmg types is nice, can hunt most mobs with those.
It just means i wont have a flamer
or use the grenades

sad to say i found the template i want now, after spending 4hrs on test center i have now come to the conclusion that untill maybe CB/R commando just doesnt cut it for PvP and without TKM alongside it its not really any good against the top mobs in the game that hit you with melee "dragon/ns's"
Although i will be keeping novice commando just for the LP which i do like, i also favour pistols anyway and as such wil be changing my setup to allow for them.
But i will be watching Commando's future with a keen eye.
