I'm TKM/M Pistoleer/M Smuggler right now, but tried a bit of commando before (and liked it).

I think this professions can shine in PvP, but not solo

For now it looks like I'll do Master Commando, pistol tech IV, pharma IV

With the right foods and good Heavy weapons/grenades I seeinteresting posibilities

FT imo is not the primary weapon to use..but hey that's just my idea...

I'd like some more input fro mthe more experienced Commando's to get off to a good start

In 1v1 the flame dot is nice, and in the GCW, we are crucial (ok, maybe more like nice to have around) for takng down turrets.
Unfortunatley, in lage scale and small scale pvp, i find myself relying on my rifles more than my heavy weapons.

As a Master Commando / Master Fencer i'm about as best as you can get in pvp with commando probably haha...

Of course I have tons of dot Janta and stone knives... which i use first to dizzy and lunge (knockdown) the target. Usually the dot sticks. If they are knocked down, I switch to flamethrower and burn. With Master Commando I don't really find any accuracy problems with the ft, except against def stackers (people with insane dodge and the dodge food). Of course another problem with commando in pvp is fighting against a doc. They can heal the dots, and heal their health and action when you hit that with your heavy weapons.

I'm pretty much happy with commando in pvp though,it works well, very well with fencer. Fencer and commando have health dots and usually only attacks the health pool.

It isn't the best in solo pvp, but it works great in group pvp if you of course do it right. Talk to your group, but you can either go in and sacrafice yourself doing as much damage as you can... or you can get behind the tanks shooting off rockets. The last thing someone wants while fighting a tank isto have a commando shooting 600 dmg rockets that DO HIT sometimes. Another thing they would really not like is to have commando's burning them. If you didn't kill them you would atleast make them pause for awhile to heal their wounded health pool.

Now don't laught but I'm Master Smuggler Mast Commando..... now I said don't laugh

I find certain types of PVP are real fun. You can do a lot of dmg against ranged profession (Minus rifleman), I have found myself in endless deuls against pistoleers and carbineers (Using stun armor and PSG of course) but where I do find is fun and effective is we can wreck havock on a Jedi. You send in the TKA and Fencer and I open combat witha bombdiggidy bomb droid <grins evil smuggler grin> and flame the far out of them. Then I drop back and nail them with a HAR rifle.... what a HAR yep... thats right a HAR.... now don't laugh again cause here's the secret. You need to find a weaponsmith to work with and have them craft your weapons for accuarcy rather than dmg. My AHR has a +74 accuracy at ideal range gotta love that, taken with a little citros snow cake yea baby...... main key don't get sneezed on or you'll die.

As far as straight up against any defense stacker you're dead , if you get dizzy KD you're dead unless you have mized in a profession like fencer or something and have high resist to such. Anyway we are not the desired PVP template for now, hopefully this revamp will be out soon.... SIGH

altho we are clearly not the best at one on one i have found that not everyone PvPing is a defense stacker so it doesnt always matter. However i love using my TK to knockdown dizzy the ones i can and then burninate em while they r down. Because of buffs allthis really seems to do is cause wounds up arse so i usually resort to my TK headhit after i get the dot on them to break down their mind. Not always necessary but when it is i do it.

In a grouped battle i always use my commando weapons. Right now we are the best support wise if nothing else. While we cant tank, we can go behind a tank and cause serious damage. I love fighting alongside others in battles more so than one on ones, but thats me.

I'm pretty sure it won't be as succesfull as my current template....but it's time for a change....

I'm thinking that with the acc food, and some SL love (we got a SL in the guild) I should be able to hit a lot easier with the heavy weapons... The heavy acid beam seems particularly interesting... grenades will be more of a jedi only thing lol...

I need to keep some smugglers skills, so I'll probably have panicshot and low blow for crowd control with the LP and feign death to get me out a sticky situations... (this skill is awesome in big group pvp).

IMO carbineers/melee'rs can set up your opponent so the commando can put in serious damage!

Gonna have my weapons/grenades custom made with higher acc too

hehe I can't go master fencer though...I got a nice FP selling business, and I decided to keep smuggler 4030 (panicshot and lowblow and feign death )

Getting in thouch with a good WS to make me some nice weapons with higher accuracy (and at higher range for the acid steam launcher).

I know it won't be as effective as my current template... (highest rank before I started getting killed unbuffed on a daily basis due to faction deals was about 1600) but I want to do it as good as possible

TK/Commando kicked ass before the weapon switch delay came into effect. I built up a rep as being one of the best PVPers on my server with my TK/Commando template.

Most of my PVPing was done solo and I still found commando effective versus larger groups if you can effectivly use the terrain and warcry. I only recently changed template and dropped commando so I can destroy jedi in combat.

I had a few fights usually 1 on 1 versus Fencer/Docs and found them to take ages! Main way I would drop them is to take a long-term stance and either wait till they ran out of stims or their hugebattle fatigue made healing a waste of time (such fights often ran around 30mins)

Most people advise the Flamer but dont forget that the acid rifle does have its uses. Main reason I'd pull out my acid rifle is due to high heat resist PSGs. Sure you can try and blow up the PSG with mass flamer fire but most experienced PVPers have a few PSGs lined up for use.

My experience is that commando/TK works well but you will fall down alot

One of most enjoyable moments as commando was using flamecone2 on 15+ imperials as they tried to take down my guilds' Base.

Setting wookies on fire before they got armour was also nice too

Commando is a hard prof to use in PVP and takes a while to get used to as its got alot of weaknesses you have to account for but I still love it

does it still hold true that you can only throw grenades every 9 seconds, no matter what speed they are?

anyhow...I'll be sure to spend more time on this forum to keep you guys posted hehehe....as I will be PvP'ing A LOT (just like now)

The commando forum does seem to be a bit inactive though

I PvP sometimes...

My experiences are seeing the cloning facilities of mulitple worlds, many times!

Since I only dabbled in tka, even those skills aren't enough to help me in PvP.

My three shining moments...

1) Catching a fat Rebel wookiee offguard and roasting him to a crisp with /flamesingle2, incapping and /deathblowing him before he even knew what had happened.

2) Another rebel wookiee was chasing an over Imp down the streets of Bestine, and apparently only those two and myself were the only overts in town, as no one else did squat. Seeing a fellow Imp in trouble, and that he was apparently not a member of an elite profession (I think he was novice marksman), I intervened and turned the rebel into flambe as they ran past me, incapping and killing him before he could fight back.

3) Battle of Dark Abidos, I witnessed a Jedi being chased by three TKMs, and a novice TKA. Looked like fun, so I joined in the chase. When we reached the city limits, the TKMs backed off, but the novice and myself continued chasing the Jedi for another 200 meters or so, me firing my flamer the entire time. Finally, when we were about 250 meters outside of town, the Jedi realized that we were the only two on his tail. He turned and attacked us, going for the TKA first. I took the opportunity to slap a flamesingle2 on him, but it just wasn't enough; he quickly killed me, and healed himself. Still, it was fun chasing him.
