Commando Archive

When I started Everquest a few years back, I wasn't sure which profession to choose. A lot of them seemed interesting, each with very attractive elements.

Without knowing better, I chose ranger to begin with. I wanted to do some power from range, but also be able to take a few hits if need be. I didn't want to go down in 2 swings, but I liked the idea of having a bow and picking people off without danger to myself.

Long story short, Ranger was the suckiest class of all time.

Fast forward 3 years, everyone and their dog wants to be a ranger. They do DEVESTATING damage from range and are ALWAYS the last to go down in a big fight.

Moral of the story, what comes around goes around. Commandos will be complete BAD ASSES in the future. SOE has a reputation of nerfing overpowered classes too far, then boosting classes that have been pretty underpowered a little too much since they have sucked for so long.

I am confident this will happen to you guys. Stick with it, I know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

For everyone who has commited themselves to this profession, and doing their best to stick with it, /salute. We will all want to be commandos some day, and when that day comes, you guys will be the king of the hill.

Most of us don't want to waste money waiting until this game might finally be good. The difference was back then EQ didn't nearly have as much competition as SWG today so a lot of people were more willing to wait it out. Now, there is a ton of competition already out and a lot more on the way. Why waste 2 years at $15/mo when you can play some other MMORPG with a class that you want to play that actually works?

Fatal thank you really. My only problem and I'm sure a lot of everyone elses problem is we don't want to have to wait 3+ years to become a viable class. As it stands right now I'm a creature handler/pistoleer wearing a Commando tag. I personally want to dump both of those and be a Commando at the moment I cannot.

What do you think rogues and warriors in EQ did for the first year? They bent over and took it in the ass and played their class because they still found it fun. If you're worried about it then play something else but stop whining about soe "wasting" your money. If you took the time to read the forums and research your profession before diving in you wouldn't be here unless you're downright insane. I scrapped commando and am BH pistol spec IV after 4 days and wow now im extremely useful in FOUR days, lol. Cmon stop whining and either scrap it and wait for it to become something fun or just suck it up and use launcher pistol for awhile because it does do extremely nice damage... highestl damage pistol available.

The point is we shouldn't have to wait or take a different class to get enjoyment out of the game.

3 years is a long time dude. Lol most of us will be playing another MMORPG.
