Thread: The Conspiracy of the Broken Commando
It is now my belief, that our characters are the way they are per dev design. We have been engineered to be worthless in combat. Why, you say? This can't be right, you're thinking? Well...stay with me...
Colin Powell, Ronald Reagan, JFK, Teddy Roosevelt, were all soldiers of one metal or another. When they got too old to soldier, they found another profession, didn't they?
So, the devs want to make politicians a profession in the game, but who wants to play a nasty politician? How to do it.... They figure, 'I know!' All politicians are retired soldiers, so lets make a 'soldier profession' *snicker*, that they'll take a long, long time trying to achieve, by that time we should be ready to deploy operation 'Red Tape' and since we're not giving anymore skill credits to the suckers, that class of 'soldier' *wink* will be weak enough to give in and pick up the political slack- because we all know- that playing politics is the most fun in the world! Why, EVERYONE adores politicians & politics! It'll bea LOT more fun than blowing stuff up with rocket launchers! I mean, no one buys games for the special effects and coolness of guns and / or heavy weapons- that's all played out....the real real pleasure to be had now is in campaigning for votes! and levying taxes! That, my fellow Devs, is the pinnacle of what SWG should be about.....and that's how we accomplish it!
Call me a cynic, but that's my take now. On a dev drawing board somewhere:
1) Gimp a soldier class
2) Break the resolve of the soldiers
3) Introduce the politician and really hype it up how cool levying taxes is and what not
4) Slowly ease the 'soldier' profession out of the game, because we don't want too many politicians either.
