Thread: Probably not good news, Holo's question
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=10787&view=by_date_ascending&page=1
Several people have answered holo's question as to why pistoleer has suddenly become popular in this thread, which IMO is because commando finally getting some good news. Problem is they need to realize that three classes depend on the pistoleer tree including pistoleer. Smugglers and commando's MUST go pistoleer as well or simply stop using their main weapon, the pistol.
Exactly.
Those 3 professions rely on pistols making novice pistoleer a skill to pick up tohelp with the leveling.
I think it's good news - hopefully this will mean that the devs see that fixing the professions should be on top of the to-do pile.
If this patch is what we are hoping it is, then the problems should be fixed come later this week.
Oh, and BHs go pistoleer too, forgot about that one. So basically there are 4 elite professions that use pistoleer, the most recent surge is due to commando's getting hope that they'll be able to do some damage and we need pistoleer to do that.
I for one went from Master Marksman to brawler to commando, then I noticed commando was flat broke so I kept novice commando and didn't work on commando since then.
So I've been goofing around with creature handler, carbineer, tera kasi, and medic in the mean time. After hearing a few weeks ago that commando was finally getting some attention I started working on pistoleer so I could use the LP
I think its kinda messed up that they had to ask why. Its because the commando class which has been broken since day one is hearing they may get fixed, and some pistoleer skills are essentially a pre-requisite to becoming a commando.
Yep...too true.
Hopefully things will be fixed soon and commandos will be able to use grenades, flamethrowers and rocket launchers to get some good xp ![]()
Just a simple comparison and there are more pistol using classes:
Pistol users - BH, Smuggler, Commando, Pistoleers
Carbine users - BH, Carbineer
Rifle Users - Rifleman
Neither Smugglers nor Commandos get any speed/accuracy mods - get Pistoleer
Neither Smuggler nor Commando get knockdown - get Pistoleer
Train Novice Pistoleer and get an added bleed and an acid pistol cert.
Then there's the mix/match people who grab trees for defensive purposes. Pistoleer has more saves than anyone.
How about the non-combatant artisan/craftsman types who want some ability to fight. What gun shoots the fastest and is easiest to level? Pistoleer.
Oh, and here's the final one. What gun does every character start with? CDEF Pistol.
I'll repost my reply to that question here.
"Actually, the disturbing thing is that the dev's could have answered their question by simply reading some of the threads found in some of the proffesions boards. I know it's been stated on the commando board several times that pistoleer was a necessity, and that bounty hunters were frequently picking it up. I've checked out a few of the other boards and saw quite a few posts from people saying that they were moving to pistol, moving from melee to ranged (usually pistol), or that pistoleer was either a good idea or essential to be effective as the profession the board was for. Everything that's been posted on this thread is just a repeat of things posted in the various professions. "
Pretty much sums up how much the dev's pay attention to us.
Actually Smugglers get a knockdown, its called LowBlow.

The scary thing to me is why this isn't blatantly obvious to Holo. It took me only moments pause to have several answers.

I know they don't get any pistol accuracy/speed mods.

Ahh. My bad. I'm not up on what smugglers specials do exactly. Thanks.
