Last night while hunting... I noticed that since i have taken up useing the pistoleer.. I get pistol exp while using either of the bleeding shots. It din't do this before i got pistoleer. I only get a fraction of the exp. but is still get pistol exp. Anyone lese have this problem?

You didn't happen to get a launcher pistol from a quest did you? Apparently those are bugged and still give pistol xp.

also....using pistolwhip gives pistol exp even if you have the LP equipped.

What I noticed last night (my first using my LP) was this:

• Hitting creatures seemed to grant pistol xp


• Hitting lairs seemed to grant HW xp

Now this is based only on a small sampling. I haven't learned to wield my LP very welland the resulting confusion in combat was too detrimental to my group, so I backed off. Tonight I plan on doing more controlled experiments.

We were hunting seething bol crushers, and they resist most damage types except for heat, so it could be that I got pistol xp for the bleeding specials I spammed, and that I didn't actually cause any blast damage. Since lairs don't have the resistances / armor that the bols do, the damage was all blast damage. Maybe that describes the discrepancy?

I get mostly HW xp with a small amount of pistol xp. Truthfully I need both so this has never bothered me, but it seems to be linked to suppresion fire and pistol whip. Personally I need those skills tosolo so I'm just going to keep on killing Baz until I hit master and don't need xp anymore.

I get pistol XP, but not for the bleeds, but whenever I use the ranged support line.

Supression fire is giving me pistol XP.

And I do have the novice pistoleer.

OK, here's my theory on what's happening...

When I was seeing larger pistol xp numbers w/o HW xp, it must have been due to the seething bol crusher's armor + blast resist.

I too have observed the following behaviors w/ LP: IF you use a pistol special, some small amount of pistol xp is granted, but my guess is actual damage results in HW xp. This seems fine to me.

Now that I've adjusted some to the LP and gotten used to its rate of fire somewhat, it ain't all that bad of a weapon. Still need to get this bugger sliced though.

The toughest part about all this is just the patience needed. I can typically take down the same targets in 1/2 or less time w/ my scout blaster - which also has not been sliced. Seems like that's not right.

But it's still fun!

ya i use supresive fire.. so that could be it...... Nit doesn't biother me since smugglar needs pistol exp also...

What do you do to solo Biz natches now? They pack attack yes? humm I would like to know to do this.. i am sure they grant far more exp that goanda...

Mind you, I haven't tried this myself... One thing is that it seems baz nitches got tougher last weekend, as a colleague of mine was soloing them on Fri. or Sat. but on Sun we were getting wasted easy.

I'm not very good at it (yet ) but if you have a pet that can tank for you, you might be able to use it to pull one of the aggro critters in w/o getting the other(s) to come along too. Then bash away.

aye, whenever i use any ranged support skillz, i get some pistol exp. I think its aproxamate to the amt of damage these ranged support skills do, which is little. Frankly dosen't bother me since i need pistol exp for Dirty Fighting too, but oh well.
