Thread: Commando/MCH Combo Not As Good As BH/MCH Combo?

Since about August, all I've heard is that commando dabbling with MCH is better than BH dabbling with MCH.

Not true, kimosabe. Perhapscommandos are good as AT-ST killers (never done it yet), but I'll take BH over Commando. I've done both and BH is more versatile and deadly. And it should be, since BH takes so much more time and skill points.

I have two characters in SWG, one is MCH with Flame 3 (about to be Flame 4) andNovice Medicand the otheris MCHwith BH Carbine 3 and LLC 4. I did both characters to check this out personally to answer this question once and for all, for me, at least.

First off, unless Flame 4 is a lot more powerful than Flame 3, I think LLC is better. I've used both and it seems there are more critters are vulnerable to electricity than heat. My LLCs fire faster, too. They seem to be more accurate.

Now that I will get Flame 4 this weekend (thank God before the CH nerf), Istarted looking at the Commando tree to get something similar to BH Carbine 3 in the Commando line. There isn't anything similar or versatile, IMHO.

I've been told Acid Rifle is broken. I don't want to throw grenades. There is no Pistol improvement column. The Heavy Weapons column looks good, if Rocket Launchers, Particle Beams and Lightining Beams are good. I've never used them. I can't even find them in shops.

I'm posting this in all the appropriate forums because if I'm wrong, I'd like have the info to correct me. But so far, to me at least, it seems like being an MCH/BH s better than MCH/Commando.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Get Flame IV to get a better Idea for your comparison.

You get FlameSingle2 and some speed and accuracy bonuses(andtheBurn DoT).

I contemplated a similar templates: MCH BH 0/0/3/4 (0/3/0/4) and MCH Commando 0/0/4/0 Smuggler 0/0/3/0.

The BH gives LS2, LC1 and LS1 plus bleeding shot and eyeshot if you take pistols or Underhandshot and FireKnockdown if you take carbine, the latter becoming more popular. My friend regularly hits for 8k+ with LS2 (Depends on the target).

Commandogives youFS2, FC1 and FS1 and the Burn DoT. Smuggler gives you Feign Death, Panic Shot and Low Blow.

I decided on the Commando template because of the DoT and the Smuggler moves rounded him out.

In the end for me, however, I decided to go MC and CH 4/4/0/0. I wont be able to use some of my pets after the patch but I should still be able to use LV 38 pets. But I'm waiting to see what changes actually make it to production before I start modifying my template.

I would be interested in your opinion of the MCH/Commando/Smuggler template as compared to your MCH/BH template as you could directly compare them both.

Good Luck...

Gren, thanks for the info.

I can't tell you about a smuggler, cause I've never been one. Feign Death sounds good to me, as does Panic Shot. Is Low Blow a gun shot or unarmed move?

I've been thinking about dumping my Medic points and going with smuggler, too. If commando has nothing more worthwhile than Flame 4, Smuggler looks good to me.

A BH may be more versatile... but he will NOT having the solo'ing power a flame4+mch commando would have.

A Flame DOT will kill anything... even a Kimo or Rancor with 100% heat resists....

Or you could just learn to be your own tank and solo kimos, rancor, nightsisters, etc. Multiples at once as well.

Much more effective than wasting points in being a master poke'mon.

Dump Medic and give Smuggler a try, I think you'll be happy.

All three specials are good for PvE and LowBlow can help in PvP. Lowblow is a ranged pistol knockdown you can use with the Launcher Pistol.

Just get full Mdoc buffs and some good pet stims before you go out and you'll be set.

Commando doesn't have much else to offer unless you want to Master it. Rocket launchers and cannons are nice but expensive and consumable, grenades can blow you up if used to close and the HAR tree is currently broken.
