There was a LARGE rebel raid on Bestine earlier today on Lowca. The rebel had about 20+ players and the Imperials had about the same amount of people.
There were a large mix of people in the raid, you had your typical CM/Rifleman and your defense stacker (Vin if any of you are on Lowca). As a commando i noticed that yes, my initial damage was A LOT higher. Ranging anyway from 1500 to 3200 pvp damage from flame2 (i have a 560-1080 4.6 flamethrower) this was what the combat queue gave me so this is NO WAY REFLECTIVE OF TRUE DAMAGE.
They way the battle went, if I incap from first hit great, if i didn't, the dot wouldn't help. I was doing anywhere from 80-240 damage per tick depending on armor. This mean that even if the DoT landed and didn't incap (which is 80% of the time because my opponents are buffed and armor, if someone goes into battle unarmored and unbuffed THEY DESERVE TO DIE).
The one thing that I noticed is that how much more we are relegated to that of a support role. WE NOW NEED TO RELY ON CHAOS AND CONFUSION more than ever and we run in and set up for a flame. If we don't connect, we can onlyhope that they didn't noticed us trying to flame them because the delay timer is still there. We need back up to distract and disorientate our opponents.
Half the battle i had to rely on my TKM abilities (abilities and skills are two different things, as much as I'd like to say that i have the skills, being a master commando does not give me the ability). I missed about 2/5 of my special, meaning that i have to switch to TKM and wait out the delay and hope that my group can distract long enough for me to fight again.
So in conclusions, commandos have now become more of a one trick pony than ever (unless you take up pistoleer to augment the LP, one thing i did noticed is that half the rebels were not wearing armor pretty weird since they got rid of decay). So nerf or no nerf we still have to rely on a LUCKY hit from our flamethrower. Pretty sad that Commandos has now been given the role of support. Hell a combat medic, who only need one line from marksman can be more effective than a commando who's whole skill tree required combat/weapons xp.

PS... I've decide to not drop commando skills. I would be a commando no matter how gimped, i mean i've been one since before the commando patch lol

What I like to do is dizzy/knockdown them then flame them when they are flopping.
