My Best flamethrower didnt translate too well to the new system.

pre CU it was a beatuiful 1.6 spd, truly awesome.

but that speed doesnt do me anything post CU.

yes my modified DPS was 530, but that doesnt do me any good if my action is drained after a minute of fighting...

new flame throwers are going to need focus on two primary areas:

1. Action Cost.

2. Pure Damage.

My weaponsmith (thanks Twiitch!) made me a new Plasma last night with a speed of 2.86, max damage of 1014 and action cost of 100.

its that action cost of 100 that makes this baby Uber compared to the dozen or so i had that converted.

other flamers may have a higher Dps, but a fast, hard hitting flamer is worthless if your out of action.

I ran into the same problem...I was experimenting on PFT and if I went with pure damage I got more DPS than if I did speed or a combination. I use -.67 krayt tissues and an imp stock in one and only got 2.56 speed.....the base without upgrades got me 3.04. I thought for sure it would be sub 2.0, but it only came out 2.56 and I had the problem of it not letting me have the wound as high as it could go. I think I will use the tissues for the speed and then do pure damage with action.

Now all weapons have a cap in them for everything. For example, slicing a krayt scatter came out 0% speed. Why? Because the speed is already as low as it can possibly be in the new system. Looks like you've already hit that speed on FT's. Also seems that putting more points into max damage rather than speed will up your DPS more.

Yes that's a nice Flamethrowere IMO. I had a 1253 Max Dmg Flamethrower pre-CU. Now it converted rather nicely hitting in PVP for over 1k.The Flamethrower is very similar to yours w/ speed a 2.89 max damage 1024, and (modded up) Mod DPS close to 500. The Special attack cost is 112, and doesn't kill my ithorian's action bar too bad. I recommed a Flamethrower w/ your stats having and Mod DPS at leaxst 420-450. That flamer works rather nicely.

*Edit for exact stats

It's probably not at the cap since you get a system message while crafting that tells you that you went over on a stat and it's been adjusted down.

Also, there's something completely different going on with slicing... I played with smuggler the other day and the %ages didn't match up with actual changes, I would get 5% and under slices on od weapons when I could make new ones with 100 more damage or a full second faster, etc. I'm guessing they tried to write some sort of diminishing returns program for slicing to taper off at the caps, but it got all hosed somehow. I'm telling people to hold off on slicing anything for a while atm.

This post is brought to you by the letter G

I'm a forum poster that used to craft weapons, but now has nothing to craft...so I post about it. Give me a role to play and I'll be a player that posts again.

to solve the action cost problem yse ranged shot as your defaut attack (no im not crazy). the cost is so low that it regains itsself befor your next attack and the damage is lessened by about 100 dmg in PvE (no PvP testing) but I use my 500 DPS flamer with 122 action cost and it does great in PvE

for PVP i find that a sustained high damage output is critical.

i agree but for someone with a high cost flamer there wont be any dmg if you dont have action. Not saying my way is the best, never PvP tested it but its been great for PvE
