Well my fellow commandos, it's here... after many months of waiting the much vaunted and highly anticipated CU is now nestling amidst the other 0s and 1s on our hard drives.

No, it's not perfect, and I think everyone will have something about the CU that they'd like to see changed (my personal bone of contention is the level system, I believe it is far too strict where something a few levels below me is an efortless and unrewarding kill, and something a few levels above me is certain death) but for good or bad it's here and we'll all have to live with it.

For commandos it's been a long road, almost since launch we've had issues we've wanted addressing, and invariably the only attention we've received from the Devs came in the form of nerf after nerf after nerf, but still we persisted, still we fought, always adapting, and thats what we'll do now under the new combat system.

Leading our fight over those months (and at times it really has felt like a fight to get some attention) have been a few remarkable members of our community, the "die hard" commandos among us. Those who stuck with our profession through the bleakest night, but 3 names stand out that I personally want to take the time to thank for their continued patience with all aspects of the game... our correspondents over these times, namely :

Lord Sekhemoth (sp)

Garvin

StarNick

Without the three of you spearheading our prof and giving us hope over all this time I believe many more of us would have quit not only this prof but this game than actually have. You were the three voices above all others who told us to hold fast, that our day in the sun would come again, and for the most part your word have been proven correct.

Our main issues have been addressed :

Increased usability for heavy weapons (RL, HPBC etc)

Getting nades to actually work

Addressing our defenses

Increasing stack size on nades

Actually giving us a role in combat (and stop us being the butt of jokes)

and for that this commando owes you an eternal debt of gratitude for making this game fun and rewarding again.

Also, recently, we seem to have picked up a new friend (and a powerful friend is he) in the form of HeliosSOE who (I believe) went above the call of duty to bring us feedback, answer our questions and address our issues as they came up as the CU got closer - I wish the dev team were made up of more like you Helios, you were a blessing to this profession.

To all of the above names : /BMOC /22 flamer salute

You guys have been awesome, thanks for everything you've done

Hmm, not sure, I was only going by what I saw on TC and what we had been promised from the devs when I mentioned nades. I'm yet to find a smith on my home server of Shadowfire stocking a decent selection of weapons at all post CU, let alone nades
