Thread: PvE?

Just wanted to know how good I'm gonna be when I get commando at PvE. I'm not aligned at the moment, and I'm not to excited about the PvP trash I'm most likelygonna get with commando and combat medic.

Okay I've asked the fencer and swordsman forums this question. I thought I might as well ask the good 'ol pikemen as well.


I am looking on a PURE melee build for mostly PVE combat, by pure melee i mean, not ranged. But dabbling in say scout or medic is OK. This is a roleplaying thing, so don't think im crazy our anything by this


I asked the MSE's what they're profession has to offer so far as PVE and they told me many damage types (stun, blast etc...) I asked the fencers and they told be defense.


So my question here is, what does the pikeman have to offer? I am not unwilling to listen to a template that has master pikeman AND another profession. But whatever one will be most effective will be the one i use. I am not against dabbling in professions Trees for defense either.


So far this is what I have.


Master Pikeman

4/4/4/0 fencer

4/4/0/4 TKA

Scout 1/0/0/0

Medic 1/0/0/0


What are your thoughts on this? Basically I am asking for help. This game has gotten a little boring for me and I'm looking to liven it up with some Melee and RPing action

I'm a roleplayer who does about 75%-25% PVE/PVP. Until for RP reasons, I dropped most of my combat, I was happy in PVE/PVP with:


Master Brawler
Master Fencer
Master Pikeman
4000-Teras Kasi
0030-Medic


The area KD is nice.

Thanks. Master Brawler still worth it, even after the patch? I think I am going to have Master Pikeman/Swordsman/Fencer as my main and dabble in the other melee classes for the necessarry defense. How badly do you think I need scout/medic?

You can still warcry mobs in battle. they will freeze untill you hit them again. Exelent for a combat breake like healing and more. Warcry was your best friend and will be again if you learn how to use it.


But for pure pve i think master pike/brawler/swordsman is a great combo. and the rest in to medic three.


High kinetic dmg with the pike and blast with the "sword". Defences will not be that high but the big monsters tend to hit the worst defence stacker anyway.

Wellsir, I had to adjust my template because of the nerf... errr fix in publish 7.


What I have right now is master brawler/pikeman, 4/0/0/4 TK, 0/0/4/4 Heavy Swordsman and I'm currently working on 0/0/4/0 Fencer. When I'm done I figure I'll be at 0/4/4/0 Fencer.


I quite enjoy having the wide array of weapons to choose from. Makes the game so much easier when you have a weapon for almsot every occasion.

I'm slowly learning how to use my moves in Pike. Pike rule in PVE... that is if you know how to use your moves right. Whenever I hunt with my group I always tank and they complain that my area attacks and KD keep them from getting exp. Just learn the moves, you'll be fine. Sure the lack of dmg types sucks. But I'm sure there will be more variety with time. I'm master doc / master pike good combo.

i hear commando is good in PvP but what about PvE? it seems that BH/Commando is the best template but it also seems people like Commando/Smuggler any suggestions? im trying to build a template good in PvE is commando the way to go?

smuggler is good because of the crowd control. If you want power, go with BH, but being able to control your opponent is for Smuggler. Take a battle last night for example: a bunch of overt rebels assaulted bestine(from shuttleport). I got on my swoop, circled around them and ran up to a rifleman(from behind)taking pot-shots at everyone. I got a panic shot(10 sec delay) and lowblow(knockdown) on him. By the time he got up he had less than half health. He began to run, used restraining shot to root him(and he got pissed) and barly got free. I chased him down but ran into a cyborg swordsman and got whooped up(was lagging horribly). But the other rebel still died.


So it just depends on what kinda attack you like.

But what about PvE? do you mean BH/Commando is better for PvE becuase its stronger and Smuggler/Commando is good for PvP?

I'm using MCommando/MSmugg. It's working fine for me. I can 'root' my enemies, knock them down with my rocket launcher, and DoT them with my plasma flamer.



If my health gets really low, I can Last Ditch with the flamer, for 3000-6000 pts of damage....and in an emergency there's always 'Feign Death'.
