Thread: A challenge to the devs.
Here is your challenge. Create a character, on test, on a live server or anywhere you feel like as long as you are using the current version that paying customers are using. Make him a novice commando/rifleman/pistoleer/carbineer even add bounty hunter if you want. Even try justmaking a master marksman for a bit, then move to commando. Then take this character and play.
A) Take each proffession and do a few missions from theregular missions terminal.
B) Atempt to get each kind of exp in the same general area.
C) Give yourself 200 imperial or rebel faction and try to kill a rebel trooper with each novice class.
D) Test out every novice commando weapon while doing this. Not just one and say its working fine.
E) Do this on a computer with specs like: 1g processer, 512 mb ram, gefore 4/radeon 7000
F) And finnally post back here and say in all honesty that you had as much fun being a commando as you had being any other profession.
If you can say that commando is not truely and totaly gimped we want a post saying how you did as well as a pistoleer for example. The commando comunity wants to have fun! Tell us how!
By the time you get to this step you will have a shred, only a shred, of the disatisfaction that all commandos have endured for weeks. In this case, we would like a dev post saying commandos blow......but then tell us you will see to it that you'd never want to have so little fun again and you'd spread the word in the dev community what needs to be done to fix this.
Since i have been a commando for a while i can lead you in the right direction even though 1 hour playing a commando will have brought you to this conclusion.
Our DPS STINKS. I could care less if we didn't get any more specials. I could care less if we do the same amount of dps as any other class even if it hits a random bar causing it to take us about 40-50% longer to actually kill something. We just want to not have to run around and kill the newbie stuff that spawns within 100m of the city.
My guess is that when a dev tests a change, lets say the special move change(aka. more dmg on specials) they log in use the special a few times, say it does x dmg and it has no bugs as far as they can see, and then logout to test something else. This gives no practical experience and does no comparison to other elite classes at all. Anyone who agrees that a dev or 2 should try this out for themselves please post a yes vote.
P.S. If the did these 2 changes in about a week how many would reactivate or decide not to quit:
A) Gave novice a commando's a large + to accuracy because the lack of base class suporting acurracy. Ie a novice "insert generic weapon user here that gets tier 4 in marksman" gets + 40? +50? to hit at their novice profession while commandos get +10
B) Removed the delay for acid rifle specials or make them the same as bodyshot/legshot ect. if they have one and lowered the flame thrower special delay to about "weapon delay +2". This would alow us to be almost on par with dps, albeit that we still have 48 max range and 15m special range.
If we get enough people to respond to this post we might be able to get devs to see our side of the story instead of the code side of the story.
Oh and here is my vote.
Play a comando and tree not to weep after playing the other proffessions. ![]()
Yes that would be great if we could actually get even ONE dev to do this and give aHONEST report on their findings.
