Well, I would truly appreciate any help here. I know a lot about the weapons I craft. Now I would like to learn more about the elite combat professions. Not from the instruction manual, but from personal experiences. I always assumed you guys here(commandos) would be the baddest of the bad...but apparently not, looking at some of the oomplaning on this board. Just from the weapons alone I craft, I thought you guys were most powerful. If not who is? Which Elite Combat Prof. can most efficiently take on the likes of Nym Pirates, Krayt Dragons, Dark Jedi Masters, & other tough NPC's? Are BH's better. I hear a lotta people jumping to that. I eventually wanna start an alternate player in combat on another server and also would just like to know being a weaponsmith...Tks in advance for any info.

Commando's can do the most damage in a single shot but it takes a very long time to recover from the delay and that includes healing yourself or returning fire.

Are weapons, namely the flame thrower are also only good within 16 meters and there is just no way to get within 16 meters of a Krayt, deliver a shot and survive longer than the delay. Even feign death is delayed after using a commando weapon so the commando would die before being able to feign against something like a Krayt

Ok, but what about that rocket launcher vs a krayt?

"All' commando weapons have a lengthy delay time and you've got to be pretty close for it to work. I've got some rocket launchers but I've been holding onto them till blast damage is changed on ATSTs. I want to say the ideal range is something like 48 meters but that could be wrong.

Even then, its not just range, and speed but also accuracy. At master commando I still miss regularly with grenades, particle beam, rocket launcher...etc.

Here is the commando in a nutshell. Fire weapon, any weapon usually within fairly close range if not within melee range, pray it hits(decent chance it won't despite erea effect), then run for an absurd amount of time while the delay wears off. And that's assuming it doesn't miss, if it misses commando dies.

I don't think any one elite combat profession is the best. It's all about how you use those remaining skill points.

Thanks for the input guys...keep it coming...see i started playing this game as combat prof. Then thought I would take some time and go up the wepsmith tree a little so i could supply my own weps..then realized i should get master. Now i make all these great weps and can't use. So im starting a combat character tomorrow on another server, then im gonna alternate nights with characters. Think I'll just started heading for master marksman, then go from there. Any other advice appreciated.

If you really want to be the best in combat or PVP, then its all about dabbling, not so much about mastering anything. Like the above poster said, its about skill points

If you want to get the greatest variety of useful combat capabilities possible under theSWG system, be a bounty hunter.

The carbine and pistol trees in BH are comparable to the entire carbineer/pistoleer profession, and the LLC is a comparable, if not superior, weapon to the flamethrower (faster, more accurate). Eyeshot is better for dealing mind damage than rifleman specials.

About the only thing an 0-4-4-4BH isn't as good at or better than the elite specialist profession for, is melee.
