Thats all a matter of opinion. I say our profession isn't the easiest to master but then again some would disagree.

Of course I could always become a dancer and master my profession by heading off to work in the morning running myself on an 8 hour long macro like some people....

It's all about play style. For me, it would be easier to master commando than say something like an artisan profession, cause I hate sitting on my but crafting. But for an artisan who hates combat, Mastering Weaponsmith might be easier than mastering commando.

It just a matter of preference.

And anyone who says its "easy" to get to commando... obviously hasn't made it there yet hehe.

Getting to commando is certainly one of the hardest profession to achieve with maybe on combat medic being harder. Even bounty hunter you only need master scout which is probably one of the easiest starting professions to master.

However, mastering commando won't be particularly that hard, it will just take a lot of time considering the level of XP needed for each skill box, but it certainly won't be any "easier" than most of the other ellite proffessions. A artisan acan buy all the resources they need and grind away in their home where as a commando has to risk life and limb to travel the galaxy to find the most dangerous enemies to make the XP worthwhile.

See. thats what i told him. the guy was a rifleman and said that it is much harder.

I replied with " it only took you 1 part of the marksman skill tree to get to rifleman, I had to master marksman and unarmed plus get another 40k combat, how is that easier?"

he then went off saying well that should only take you a couple of days at best.

Conculsion was...

This guy had to be unemployed, not married, no kids and no life to think this.

anyway

I'm about half way so I'll share my opinion so far...

Getting to Commando is hard...we all agree on that pretty much...

Once you get to Commando, you are pretty much worse on the majority of Commando Weapons then you were as a Novice Marksman...you miss 8 out of 10 times (with the exception of the Launcher Pistol...but that doesn't do nearly as much damage as FT and HAR)....so in the beginning the grind is slow...took me about a week to get through the Flame tree (playing only 3 hours a night)....flame2 was actually harder then flame4 if you believe it...once I hit flame3, battles ended faster as I was hitting harder, faster and with more accuracy...

Now that I have flame4, everything seems to be moving a lot faster...That's why you want to finish 1 tree at a time. Field Tactics still looks like a grind, but if you aren't using your combat xp for anything else, it should be taken care of as you finish off the other 3 trees...

Read Ivoni's Commando Guide...it's great...it's what put me on this path...

I think it's pretty hard getting commando. On various characters, I've got Novice Commando, Novice CH, Novice Pistoleer, Novice Carbineer, Novice Bio. Eng.

Of those I'd have to say Commando was the hardest for me. You have to Master all of Marksman - then do the full line of unarmed and finally get 40k combat experience... which may not sound like much, but remember - combat experience is 10 percent of normal weapon experience...

So.... if you shoot a mob and get 117 weapon experience, you'll only get 11 combat experience... That means you really need 400,000 weapon experience to get 40,000 combat experience... that's like mastering marksman all over again. I even joined a faction thinking I could just transfer 10k Faction Points at a time to get that combat exp. over with... not even that helps as Faction Points transfer at 1/3rd of their value. so 10k faction points equals 3,333 training points and although I really crunch out FP at 900 fp an hour, it takes 10-12 hours to get the FP needed to transfer overa t 3.3k. It's really not worth it.

Once you get Novice Commando you'll discover that each collumn takes the same experience... so you can't build multiple trees simultaneously (as you can with Smuggler for example.)

I think people look at hard core players who really push it and get Novice Commando in a couple weeks and think 'oh that must be so easy.' But if you think of the play style and the hours those guys put into it.... it's not really easy at all... it just requires a lot of dedication.

Your right...we can only speak from personal experience...Personally I Mastered Scout much quicker then it took me to grind out unarmed start to finish...maybe that's because I didn't know the tricks in the beginning...but I didn't need any tricks to get through scouting quick...Of all the beginning professions I personally experienced...Scouting was the easiest for me...it pretty much finished itself while I worked on Marksman and Brawler...I gave up Master Scout so I could use the skill points from a couple of trees elsewhere (had to give up trapping and survival trees)....but on my way up the Commando treeI've earned enough xp to take care of Trapping and Survival...

Scout is a joke to level if you're going for master marksman.

Just harvest your kills: that takes care of explore and hunting trees. Throwa trap every fight. Takes care of your trapping tree. Then set up a camp when you break to get food or pee or talk on the phone or watch a TV show. Takes care of alot of your survival exp.

Maybe you got commando when you could use VKs still... in that case I'd say that commando wasn't so bad either. But without the VK cert, unarmed is very time consuming to level (exp comes slow) and involves a lot of downtime (high wounds and BF).

I can't imagine trying to get all the way up unarmed without using bleeds. I'm at unarmed 3 and it seems like I miss as much as I hit...and I hit for a whopping 80 on average. It's like my toon is perma-drunk.

With unarmed hits only doing like 50dmg, its much harder to master than other proffestion. BH are not harder because scout is a passive proffestion, you dont have to work on it, you just build a camp here and there, throw a few traps, and harvest all the creatures you kill.

ummm It took me 4 days to get Master Marksmen and Master Medic. I mean I got both of those in 4 days together at the same time.

It took me 7 Hours to get Master Unarmed

It took me about 8 days to get Master Pistoleer.

It took me about 5 days to get Master Commando. I dropped The Master Medic and only have First-Aid 1 on the Medic line.

so I am
Master Marksmen
Master Pistoleer
Master Commando
and I have Frist-Aid 1 in the Medic Line.

And yes I have no Wife no Kids. Tho I do go to work once in awhile.

Was it easy to get Master Commando Hell NO ! the Combat EXP takes forever.

Thanks you and have a nice day

I think it is a bit easier to get to master commando than many other high-level professions. All you need to do is get to Flame Single 1, find some large animal that doesn't DB and preferably doesn't mass aggro (Bolle Bols and Fambaa are ideal on Naboo). Then run through theb herd hitting each with 1 burst of Flame Single 1. They mayincap you (and almost certainly will some of the time--especially the Fambaa until Flame Single 2), but Bolle Bols are toast after the Flame DoT gets them. (Fambaa are tougher and may survive the Flame DoT, so you rest/heal yourself when the incap ends and repeat). Each animal gives you 3K or so Heavy Weapons XP and 300 Combat.

Now, you need 1,000,000 Combat XP to master the profession, so it's not SUPER-EASY, but for the rest of the trees I was averaging (including rest time, bathroom breaks, searching for new prey when they stopped spawningand the like) about 500-700 Heavy Weapons XP per minute. And the Heavy Weapons XP doesn't scale back as your skills improve...a Bolle Bol is 3000 XP using Flame 1 as your best attackand still 3,000 using Flame 2.

If I were more of a powerleveler I could have worked my way up the tree in a few days, As it was, I made it in about two weeks.

It's easy to master the profession because we inflict massive damage and the DoT basically ensures we never miss out on getting XP even if we "lose" the fight (unless we're DBed or the critter leaves the area). Other professions can't count on such an easy victory solo and without pets.
