Those two professions are confusing when the time comes to choose what I'm gonna wear. Commando needs a good Compo suit. But that's taking HAM from my TKA moves. What do you suggest?

Unless you're pvping or fighting force sensitives you won't ever need anything better than ubese.

I like having a ridiculously protective composite suite myself.
The only drawback is that buffs are a must if you choose this route (on the other hand, it lets you put most of your points into mind so it doesn't ever run too low.)

Same here, I have a set of 56% resistant comp armor (60% kin), and I can equip it all and have 50 secondary points left over for each pool. I also have 1100 mind for pboost (which brings be up to 1200/1200/1650 HAM). Even then, as a TKM, you almost never need to use the VK in PvE, and only in PvP when you're fighting some punk with 80% kin comp armor. But, as always, buffs are nice.

I have very little secondaries left over, but I can just about wear a suit of Composite which has been put together from random parts and had resists between 58 and 85%. Average is about 65%. I've got the standard 400/400/1100 HAM, Powerboost to 950/950/1650. Some half-decent buffs, 1500+, Musician Buffs and a brandy give me absolutely zero HAM costs.
If you REALLY want to have some low HAM armour, collect about 50 Nightsister Layers and 30 or so Shards. Then give 'em to an Armoursmith who does custom jobs. Be pricey, but no more than the average custom job, providing you supply the layers.
