depends on what you want to do commando/tkm good for short ranged fighting pvp and pve ,commando/rifleman good for short ranged and long ranged fighting great in both pve but PVP shines far brighter with this combo, Commando/Pistols for those who want to fanshot/stopping shot with an LP (AT-ST Killer) with new patch comming you never know

I just wanna point something out further with each of these combos (very great, detailed explanation though):
Commando/TKM: You'll use your TKA skills most of the time, more than likely.
Commando/rifleman: You'll be using rifles most of the time, more than likely.
Commando/Pistols: Very good complimentary if you want to be a commando more than the others. It complements the LP.

Those are just what I've seen in my experiences

You can always choose smuggler. That way you can have 2 bunk professions that are pretty fun.

Not sure if its Possible But Commando And Swordsman would be very unstoppable if PvE is your thing.

I like MCommando/TKM

Errm, rather TKM/supplemented by commando....I mean, if I'm at close range, why not have 2 more specials?

I wish someday, Commando's will supplement our trade with others instead of vise versa. I want to see "specialists" in the commando ranks. I, and many others, would be close ranged "specialists". Others will specialize in Rifles, Carbines, and Pistols. Some may be more balanced and dabble in several other proffessions. But the outstanding feature SHOULD be the fact that we are commando. NOT a master of another trade!

Really guys, the only reason right now people grind so hard to be commando is for the flame thrower. It's a nice weapon, but let's face it, two specials which have been nerfed from here to eternity and have way more counters then any other DOT is hardly worth the Skill points invested in the commando proffession. It's obviouse.

The only reason there are still Master Commandos is due to PRIDE and thehope that someday we'll get the attention we deserve. There's a bit of defiance too...but we hang in there. I for one am waiting for beta-8, and then see what happens.

Back to the original question...Commando supplements a few proffessions nicely. But there are way many other combinations that supplement each other better for the skill point dump. More bang for your buck if you would.

Slainte'!

I've been Master Commando and TKM for a while now and really like the combo. In PvP I use TKM most of the time. While grinding missions for credits I mix the two up. With a good /unarmedknockdown2; /ui action ToolbarSlot00; /flame two I can one hit most things that I encounter. 27k Mokk missions are a breeze without buffs. Biggest thing seems to be using my flamer after the knockdown. Damage will range from 11k-18k while the NPC is on their back.

I'll save you alot of time and frustration; don't go master commando. No profession goes well with commando because commando is the worst combat profession in the enitre game. All its good for is eating up skill points.

This has been my question as well... Really wanted to go commando/rifleman combo. What bothers me is that from the beginning devs were saying that this is a "ranged combat oriented" game, but what I'm actually seeing is that VAST majority of the game is fought in close combat and rifleman has very little use. Or at least it jsut can't compete with TKM. So now I'm lost. Do I go with a secondary profession I WANT (rifleman) or NEED (tkm)

Heh... Life is full of hard choices, ain't it
