Ive mastered marksman and unarmed, however Im finding getting the 40k in combat xp really difficult and tedious. Any you other commando's experienced this? And if so any recomendations on how to get there quickly, or tips?

I have 15k so far and its driving me nuts.

Where are you hunting? I'm not a Commando, but I've been going up through Pikeman, and my combat XP comes from Dantooine. When I was Polearm 2 or 3 in the brawler tree I was doing Lesser Bol Missions on Dantooine...they're easy 1200 cred missions only about 300 xp(30 combat xp) per kill, but there's a lot of them.

I did that because I was a wookiee, I couldn't tank anything harder. With a good set of ubese you could kill huurtons or quenkers on Dantooine...at Master marksman with a good weapon it's prolly not too hard. I didn't have the armor so I couldn't do that 'til I got into the pikeman tree. Huurtons are just under 2k xp per kill, quenkers around 2500, so you're looking at 200-250 combat xp per kill, it's pretty good.

Hope that helps, there may be better, but that's what I did.

How is he to use grenades when he is not yet Novice Commando though

I had most of mine from previous skill trees. But yeah, get buffed, go to dant or Yavin, kill **edit**. Rinse repeat

My boss nerfed me. He says Im not allowed to surf the SWG forums as long as he's around.
Today he's not here

Last I heard (never tried) everybody could use C12 (or was it C22) grenades. Using grenades will get you combat xp fast.

Once I was unarmed 4 and master marksman, I went to Novice Pistoleer for the (at the time) additional pistol bleed for the launcher pistol. I was going to get more pistol skills, but I got impatient and moved back to C12 grenades. So here are two options for you:

1. Buy a crate of grenades and run hunting missions. Use pistols on the MOBs and grenade the lair.

2. Buy a crate of grenades and go to a starting cityand grenade the mobs right outside the city.

I chose the second option and blew up meek avenging squalls, flesh eating chubbas and nightspiders around Restuss. It only took a few hours and I think I got more damage from the grenades than from the MOBs. If you cannot afford Ubese armor, get novice medic and buy stim b's.

Group with 2-3 people and head out.. tell them that you are looking for combat XP.

Take some high end kill missions and use your laser rifle. Once the intial mobs are dead,
Poke the next with an overcharge shot or two.. help them clear the mobs, rinse, repeat.

You'll land 300 combat xp or more from just the nests alone..

Take creature nests, not people bases.. they have a lot more HP, and give a lot more XP.

If you let the group know you are grinding, most will let you take out the nest....

Personally, I didn't have a problem, but I can see how this could be difficult.

Here's the deal, you get 10% of your weapons EXP in Combat EXP. So since you need 25,000 Combat EXP, that's 250,000 Weapons EXP.

How I did it:
By the time I had enough EXP for master Marksman, 4000 in brawler, novice pistoleer, and enough pistol EXP for smuggler and dirty fighting 1, I had enough Combat EXP to get it. It's slow at best. I suggest taking out your FWG5 and join a hunting group, not only will you be able to get novice pistoleer, but with it you also get health shot 2 which as I'm sure you know CAN be used with a launcher pistol. Novice pistoleer IMO is a must for any Commando.

For someone going for commando, this can be quite a project. Good luck!
