I look at other SW games and just drool over the potential this profession has, and it drives me crazy. Why can't our guys be like the ones from
Republic Commando or Star Wars: Battlefront (I loved the Wookiee Commando in that game). Hell, even the Commandos in the Clone Wars cartoon got an Underslung Carbine!
I really hope that the CU brings some of these factors into our profession instead of just adding one more cert and/or giving us some melee defense. Where is the content that allows Commandos to have a "role" in this game? Where is the ability to be the "vehicle/turret buster" role or the "drop behind enemy lines and let him do a ton of up close damage" role or the "front lines trooper" role?
I know, I know, Garvin & StarNick keep saying the 'Just wait till the CU, you will be glad you're a Commando then'line, but honestly, is SWG going to model the Commandos more like these other games did, or are they just going to not Nerf us as bad as other folks?
Sorry for the rant, but just started seeing videos of Republic Commando and I got all in a tizzy.

Our role needless to say, in the CU is a Heavy Weapons Specialist. Vague isn't it? And ironically vague is good here. We do have a set role, of blowing stuff up and being "Hell on Feet" on the battlefield, but we're good in each and every range...from Melee to Long, as we're defined by our weapons. So, we don't really have a set melee, short, medium, or long range do we? Our basic function is clear, but how we perform that function depends on all of our weapons and then some. This of course,is gathered fromthe Devs...and we'll have to see for ourselves on the Sandbox if that reasoning is indeed true (We've been repeatedly told it'll make a whole lot more sense when we actually get our hands on the CU). If thats the case then, we may very well be all three of those roles...a tank buster, a behind enemy lines trooper, and a front line trooper...all in one versitile Rambo-Machine.
Btw the CU is absolutely not a nerf, it is to simply say, a whole new system.

Sounds alot like a Storm Commando and a Specforce to me.
Medium, silenced armor, for nightops to assasinate or plant explosives.
Trained in the way of heavy weapons, to come a running if there's a need for something to come down hard.
Trained to be a individual and a social soldier.
Trained to survive behind enemy lines, or in the frontline along with the Stormtroopers or the Rebel frontline soldiers.
I just wish, the devs could get the Storm Commando armor and the Specforce commando armor made. The Storm commando armor is well known and exists on NPC's, the specforce, has been uncovered from EU with paintings and scetches...Time for us to get um!

Appreciate the reply. Sorry, I was just in a rant stage there.Yeah, the two lines in yellowdo reassure me, and you and Garvin have both done an excellent job conveying our ideas into a better format and also have done a great job keeping member of (what some might say) the most violent proffession in the game "calm".
I guess, my only worrynow is, is there going to be enough room in this forum for all the new members that are going to be pouring in? ![]()
Hmmmm....I like that expression: "Member of the most violent profession in the game", got a nice ring to it. Time to fix the siggy...
