Thread: Master Rifleman or Master Carbineer

Hello all!

I am now Master Squad Leader + Master Rifleman and, since they nerfed how useful a Squad Leader is, I was considering quitting the role of my life and trying some other role I've always fancied a lot: Commando.

So, I would like to know whether it's better to combine Master Commando with Master Carbineer or Master Rifleman, or even if that's not really necessary and I should go for some TKA abilities, like meditating...

I understand that all Commando weapons have an area attack, so maybe Carbinner is not that useful (it has area attacks while Rifleman does not). So, any hints, experiences, etc. would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Heh... I am fighting to find a wayto keep Commando in my template atm. After tinkering with the Respec more and more... I actually started to like SL. Commando/SL just isn't very feasible to me due to the lack of specials and then the skill point cost of having to have the survival line, so I went MBH/MSL/MM and it is a blast... I hope SL's get some love in a revamp after Smuggler since they aren't as valued in a group as a group prof should be. (Someone talk me into keeping commando...well thatwouldmeed to beanother thread topic)

If it were me, I would prefer carbs over rifles just for the automatic weapon feel, to simulate an assault rifle we never got (proton rifle last I saw was still a CL54 cert with no skill requirement unless that has changed recently). Not to mention it is a loot/quest item, so who knows how hard it will be to attain or how much it will cost to get a feasible non-AoE weapon. The Dev's should have given us a high powered single target weapon as well without having to jump through hoops. Rifleman wind-ups just seem to long for me as I had rather be running and gunning, though they do pack a punch. I would say it is more along your style... You like to sit back and snipe more? Then Rifleman. If you like to be moving in and out firing/snaring and cooking folks... Carbine seem more for that style.

This MBH/MSL/MM combination... good defenses, but no good accuracy, no good speed. I've never been BH before, but I think it has some pretty good specials. How do you attack with that template? Which specials? Is your hit ratio good or do you miss half of the shots?

Ihave +190 accuracy and +90 speed without any tapes with rifles, carbs, or pistols (got my hands on a good intimidator and a good E5 carbine as well). Also have plenty of carb and pistol tapes to take the speed up another +20-25. As far as defenses go... yeah I was the only one left standing after we got overwhelmed by an overspawn in the DWB and managed to burst my way out from midways down and still be breathing at the end... had called retreat but was too late. I don't feel like I am missing a lot and was drawing a lot of aggro from damage so had to tone it down some in order to call SL specials and not be taking much damage.

Usually would lead with Torso shot to bleed and the alternate between adv critical and rapidfire while slapping on states with confusion shot when needed letting the group pound the most. It worked out well, and was a fun group time until we hit that spawn that was a bit heavier than normal and advanced too fast. Always trying to keep steady aim, rally and volleyfire working to paint targets.

As you were looking for another commando templates asking about Carbines and Rifles... You might also look at MC/MBH with the speed or accuracy line of either Carbineer or Rifleman. I had a nice respec going of MC/MBH with the speed line of Carbineer, but main reason for giving up commando to shop around since we have this free period was the fact that we aren't really that much of a heavy damage dealer with heavy weapons. Yeah the plasma flamer is nice (I think my bestconvertedone only came out to 318 base dps and ends up at around 515-518 modified with a MBH/MC template... 1.9 speed with 938mx before teh CU), but other than the Lightening Beam Cannon and the Plasma... they don't feel like heavy weapons without advanced versions. I mean where is the advanced RL? It is basically just a weak hitter that has a bonus of a possible AoE KD. It looks very very nice, but that is it... Just don't like that I am using my dabbled prof for damage usually and laying states with heavy weapons. I feel more like a crowd controller than a damage dealer, but maybe that is just me. Using the BH specials with commando though will give you a bit more bang for the buck so to speak for the commando arsenal.
