Not sure anyone can answer this but I was just wondering because I am currently in need of 30K combat xp to get novice commando and was wondering if it would be possible and at least kind of efficient to use heavy weapons without the cert(doing less damage but not sure how much less) and gain some heavy weps xp on my way to 40k combat xp.

Right now I just healthshot 1 and 2 creatures and then shoot em with whatever weapon I am trying to gain xp with so I wont be trying to take it down with ONLY a heavy wep uncert'd.

Kind of an odd question but if anyone out there could answer it I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

you would be commiting suicide using any weapon you are not certified in. You do if I am not mistaken about 1/10 of normal damage with an uncertified weapon. And seeing how currently heavy weapons do almost no damage as is, doing 1/10 means you will be pounding on that nuna till YOU are dead.

To get the combat xp you need use your rifle for now. Use mindshot 1 and headshot 1 together and kill the mobs fast while in a prone position from 64 meters away..you will get in alot of kills this way before they get to you.

OR

Use the pistol and use health shot 1 and body shot or even overcharge shot and kill stuff pretty fast as well while you kite them.

Im already a commando myself so I cant test this. Can you even collect hvy weap xp before being a commando?

Having only recently gotten materials for a Lag Pistol... Launcher Pistol... I decided to try it out... Picked it up on Correllia, decided that annoying Ragtag Kook was going to be the first taster of Flying Blasting Death. Needless to say after about 30 seconds and 10 shots (2.3rds hit, oddly enough)... I was really misled... with the lack of certification (as yet), I was doing Flaming Biscuit Death... meaning that throwing a buiscuit dipped in lighter fluid would have been more effective... But, as I said, I'm still grinding to Commando... I wisely switched to pistol after a bit to finish them off...

Yet due to my own efforts against the bozo appears from nowhere idiots on Correllia, I have gained the HEFTY sum of 374 exp... most of which gained later when a very indulgent group let me use the LP for one (and only one) Tusken Warlord...

you certainly can grind heavy weapon Exp before commando, you wouldn't want to, but you can

Toss a bleed or poison on your target and then just open fire with any heavy weapon, Straight heavy EXP
