Commando Archive

I just got my flamethrower last night. Got a 29% speed slice on it and then went to put my ranged 30% speed power-up on it. No go. Is this because it's still considered a melee weapon in some cases? It says that I "shoot" at things with it, which implies ranged but I can't use a ranged power-up. Does anyone know of any power-ups that work with FTs? Works great on my launcher pistol, at least. And my FWG5 which is now down to 1.1 spd.
