I know the dev quote is unofficial, but this revision is also being submitted to the Developers. And evelas, ill get you ingame!
I suppose this can be said about any profession but hey, most don't have as high a learning curve as newb commandos do.
While grinding, listen to your favorite music in the background. It helps mitigate the frustration of making newb mistakes that get you killed.
But before I do that, Im asking you guys and gals (especially the veterans) for your own tidbits of commando wisdom. This can be anything from the actual grinding, dungeon work, group work, etc etc that you face as a commando ingame. One can hardly experience everything commando without the experience of all. Also any commando post-CU quotes you can think of (remember garvin's website with the pre-CU quotes from the correspondent summit?) would be appreciated too; I want to incorporate as much community input as I can into this guide as well!
I'll give a crack a commando smuggler advice, but much of this may be obvious.
Weapons: Most important weapons used in crowd control are: Launcher pistol, Rocket Launcher, Acid Stream Launcher.
Launcher Pistol: Useful because of the extremely low SAC and attack speed. Laying out states versus a crowd, this weapon offers superior reach as compared to a normal pistol (45m), with attack speeds far in excess of what other heavies can reach. Low SAC allows the Commando Crowd Control specialist extended operation times in combat.
Rocket Launcher: The Rocket Launcher is currently without an AOE. This allows for surgical strikes against a single target while allowing other potentially Mezzed targets to remain un touched. The Rocket Launcher also combos well with other pistoleer and smuggler attacks.
Acid Stream Launcher: Need to root or mezz everything in sight without the risk of DOT? This weapon is ideal for such situations. The blind state is a nice additional benefit. Combined with overwhelming shot, this weapon can offer an excellent chance of debuffing large crowds and landing the blind state in one shot.

- AE weapons make great crowd control tools when combined with smuggler.
- Take another ranged profession with commando to maximize efficiency
- Conceal shot works well with our weapons (except the FT)
- Remember to swap out weapons frequently depending on the opponents state/range
- Grenades in caves = Bad idea
- Commando as your only ranged class = Bad idea (not versatile enough... how ironic)
- BH + Commando = Good combo for defense and specials
- Carbine Commando = Good Damage + Crowd Control
- Pistol/Smuggler + commando = Excellent Crowd Control
- Rifle + Commando = Fun damaging + Sniping potential
- Commando + TKA = No armor, no specials (other than on guns)- lets you be more flexible with your wardrobe though
- Make liberal use of the LBC and PFT
