Well, I wish you all well in your endeavors with your games other than SWG. I for one will be staying put right here until such a time that my playstyle is no longer supported in SWG.

You see, I have a diverse playstyle. I'm both hardcore and casual, carebear and PvPer all at the same time. I don't like to be pinned down and I've enjoyed tremedously carving out my own niche in the SWG universe. With my business operations expanding and at the same time becoming easier, I have been able to devote more time to PvP toons I've always been building a base of support for.

The strategic aspects of this game, the ones that aren't necessarily hard-coded are what holds intrigue for me. And I just really have a hard time beliveing that some of these new games are going to be polished in any way compared to SWG which has had quite some time to adjust. The massive nature of SWG makes it prohibitive to adjust evrything as rapidly as we would like to see, however the shear breadth and scope of the game are something I wouldn't trade for all the content in the world. They are always going to be adding more dungeons and such, and they'll fix combat eventually, but I can't see any of these other games holding all the other additional systems SWG has to offer. Of course I have crafted heavily, so I have acccessed alot more content that way too.

You may laugh now, but a year or 2 down the road, SWG will be THE most in-depth and all inclusive MMO on the market, IMO. Like I said, you laugh now, but no other game has morphed as many sytems as SWG has and got even close to the level of play. EQ2 will be a different kind of game, and it won't have the PvP any of us seek. It will be good for what it is though, and thats a good old fantasy questing fighting monsters game. Games like Linege will have the PvP, but the community and story will be subpar IMO. WoW could have potential, hard to say though since Blizzard is a rookie at an MMO. In the words of a guildmate, SWG is going to be a far refined version of UO, and it's going to take some time to get there. But those who put in the time will be rewarded in the times ahead, mark my words, the best is yet to come.

That is als owhy I plan to stick around. We must remeber SWG is still basically an infant in a new style of MMO. It's trying new ideas, new systems, and will take time to work it all out. I hope to be there for every step, and also to help the profession I love and the game I love advance along the way.

Hey also don't forget the SE that's coming up, incorporate new ground style gaming with the Space fighting we all know and love, and it will advance even farther. I feel great things coming for SWG, but we must crawl before we walk, and walk before we run... it will take time but in the end it will be an amazing outcome

I dont know if i agree with you guys on certain topics.

1. swg right now is a good game but lets not get carried away here there is alot of things that need to be fixed

2. since we pay to play or voices should mean a little bit more when we ask them for certain things to improve game play

3. Thunder Hart said it best when he mentioned that "you have a table and one of the legs is unbalanced so you take some of the others and before you know it you have a cofee table.

4.If this game is to become a great game like you both have said .. then PvP cannot be the focuse point and as of today PvP is the reason for alot of nerfs. ex.. the new flame blanket... warcry... eyeshot... the flame dot...or better yet the bleed dot... the list goes on..

You both have good points but until the developers can sit down a do what best for the game as a whole instead of doing stuff for certain profession.. ex.. can a commando do anything in the new Genosian Cave.. think about it for a second... how is it that every other profession can go in there and make a dent but commandos cant...

well not saying you guys are wrong.. sure as heck not saying your right.. just my 2 scents on this whole thing...

I would have to disagree on point 4. For any combat profession, PvP is essentially the end-game, and the Galactic Civil War should be a central aspect of the game, otherwise it fails to be Star Wars.

Our imbalance in the geonosian dungeon is nothing more than bad luck on our part really. We haven't been updated at all to reflect changes in basic game systems since beta (aside from some damageboosts) so having us ineffective in some places is to be expected right now. For example, we should have a working acid damage weapon designed to penetrate armor, which would be ideal in the geonosian dungeon; however, it has yet to be balanced properly, so we're still a bit behind the curve in this case.

I agree with the poster and the dissenter. I agree SWG is a great game with lots of potential. I also agree it's only going to get better. However, I don't think it will ever be the most popular do to lack of attention to detail. We players notice things like graphical nuances, illogical actions, useless time sinks, etc. Whether consciously or not, these things help form a players impression and currently there are ALOT of things adding to a less then spectacular impression. A good impression, yes, but a spectacular impression, no. It's hard to be wow'ed by a game when the grass pokes through the bottom of your landspeeder and a hill can't stop a blaster shot.

I know what I speak of is polish but polish is just as important as content. It's polish as well as content which gets people hooked to a game. You immerse a player in a world to get them addicted and thereby secure a long standing subscriber. I, personally, don't find a common shuttle landing being silent or being able to shoot a gun backwards through my head immersive.

I have no doubt the different systems will be tweaked and over-hauled to work the way envisioned but I highly doubt the details such as those I've mentioned will ever be fixed. Hell, they can't even take the time to fix the imperial hat! Anyway, it's for those reasons I believe SWG will be a great and popular game for a long while but it will never be spectacular. It takes attention to detail as well as attention to "important" systems to be spectacular.

At any rate, I enjoy playing SWG. I like the people I've met in the game and have alot of fun running with them. Therefore, I'll continue to play SWG and look forward to many more happy hours playing this great but not spectacular game.

i agree totally. i have been playing for about 3 months now and it has become a part of my life. (ill make a factory run before i go to work lol)

i love my novice commando, and though initially put off by the somewhat admittedly correct criticism (is this an understatement ?? ) i am glad i went for it. the scope of this game is fantastic. i too have crafted a lot, (mostly med stuff) so maybe this added dimension contributes to my happiness, but this game is evolving in a way that i like.

i am here to stay!

You all have very good points...

I dont know if i will leave Swg per say... i dont know if i'll stay .. the thing that has me on edge is watching them chip away piece by piece on all the good profession just to force or make everyone run around in groups.

Thats not star wars. I rather be solo due to the idiots in game. And am talking about the ones in groups who figure your stealing all the xp, or your cheating them some how.

Rather than go through that i will spend 2 - 3 weeks lvl a profession, becuase i dont have patience for idiots like that.

If you look at Swg history it goes way back to the days of 25k missions on darth. The nerf wars began there.

A little after that it was war on bh (eyeshot ) then war on ch ( pets - gsp) Faction pets.. everything thats fun in game there taking it away.

Am sorry but once you cant enjoy yourself in game and i dont mean doing the same stupid missions over and over because you need 250k for a composite suit... or you have to keep up maintnance on your house.. or repair your stuff because of decay... and a whole bunch of other crap that makes the game boring as heck.

They need to think outside the box... thats the issue... to much one track thinking.... ahh well ..

just my take on it....
