I have been searching the forums, and all guides seem to be on how to become a master commando. I would like to know how to play mine better after getting there!
What kind of combat macros do you use? Do you use specials/change weapons to stack different types of damage (assuming opponent doesn't have much better defense against one type of weapon)? Especially when killing creatures that have very high HAM... Do you use say both a flameshot and then acid sequentially?
I also seem to be getting more hits with flamecone when I am moving around... Is that just me or something others have experienced? I know your targets have to be aggro'ed to allow hitting with cone, but don't think thats it. Quite frankly, I miss a bit more than I would like with this area attack... I feel that using aim is to time consuming on an already slow process, but does anyone feel it might be worth it more on an area attack tahn singles? CAN you even aim on an area attack?
--------------------------------
How do you optimize your stats? Based on one of the guides I get that:
Willpower -faster regeneration of unhealable Mind.
Focus -lower multiplier using Stims - lower cost, more heals
Focus -lower multiplier using Stims - lower cost, more heals
Action- lower multiplier on specials
Quickness -quicker regen of action
Quickness -quicker regen of action
Because of attack speed with commando weapons I have the lowest possible action/quickness, but max willpower. This is quite different from other professions where action seems so important. This how you guys do it to (based on me usually being buffed when fighting)?

Well for one once you reach Master the Accuracy bonuses have a nice boost to them. The biggest trick I used to use in conjuction with this was a move in, move out, tactic. Save up burst run, then hit it before making a mad dash at the target, hit them with the best weapon for the job... and keep moving out of range.
Also constantly check/memorize weaknesses. PvP it's pretty standard across all armor so just stick with the FT. But with NPC's... I have actually started using my HAR *It has really great damage and speed hehe* in places like the DWB or against high Heat resist targets.
For right now though the two key things would be:
1.) Keep moving
2.) Know an enemies weakness

Now, given I don't know the ins and outs of all the Commando abilities:
Wouldn't you be better off with the HAR?
Acid isn't blocked by PSGs, but Heat is.
That's all I'm sayin'.....

commando reaches its peak
after the battles been wearing on for a while and everyone has cloned at least once
commandos can wear full armor and still only have 20 ham cost

FT is best, I think. Initial dmg with all hits will be low because of composite and synthsteak, but the FT has the DoT which isn't affected by armor.

Ok,
My best advise is, when fighting high end PVE or any PVP, be in a group with a good tank (melee) since we are NOT that or even close
I usually let the Melee tanks do thier job, use a bit of artillary (RL or HPBC depending), then run up and use my FT...or our gimped HAR in many situations. Don't try to tank! Even though we shine in Melee range..don't be decieved. I've tanked several times when melee fell....and I met them very shortly after at the the cloning facility.
Sad but true. Despite our nice "Frontloaded" damage, we are cannon fodder in close. Depending on your group, finatial situation, and patience...I'd say be artillary unles you have TKMs covering ya! Then you can grenade and maybe DOT...otherwise....yer TOAST no matter what!
Hopefully this changes! Hang in there!

Doesn't anyone have macors like for throwing grenades and stuff?
Does it take to long to change weapons between say acid and flame? Or do you have macros that get in one shot of each?

Nope. The HAR outdamages the FT slightly after the PSG (The FT has about 220% of the DPS of the HAR in PVP), but the burn does more damage than either of the two hits.

The secret to commando is the Burn dot, in nearly all situations it is our best weapon.
even against 100% heat resist NPC's the Flame thrower rules because of the burn.
nades and heavy arty help a liiiiiitle bit, but a good flamer will do the job any day.

In PvE by yourself I suggest move, stop, shoot, repeat. Sometimes in missions I run around in circles against an enemy to keep them kneeling and to prevent from getting hit. Otherwise hide behind your buddies and act as support.
