Some may be seeing a pattern with these what if posts.....oh well

What if the Devs allowed us to have a Commando Armour....either like the BH Armour...or like Mando armour (profession specific) which in this case would be commando-only...

What Authentic Star Wars armour would you choose to be Commando's? Or perhaps a new high tech armour of your own imagination? (description would be helpful w/ the name )

Mine would definately be that Power Suit worn by the Zabrak in the "Art of SWG: Pencil to Pixel" that was ultimately discarded as an armour varient in the game.

Or....the Sith Battle Armour from KOTOR...or at least a less-evil like (more neutral) looking varient....that armour was cool :-)

Edit: Btw in retrospect...we all know Republic Commando...and we all know the ARC Commando armour.....no need to say it again Thanks raptor for reminding me....

Something that came to me as part of an armour revamp: Give more armour stats like the Themepark reward armour. Nice thick Commando Armour? Give the Chest and Pants +5 or +10 KD Defence each. "Heavy" armour should have that kind of bonus, while lighter armour has something to reflect the fact that you don't lose agility for wearing it.

what about armor that integrates functionality with weaponry? in our case, a specific set of commando armor that is designed for better employment of our weaponry. this might function well with our current weak situation.

imagine, if you will, a suit of armor designed to allow faster, more acurate aiming and use of heavy weapons. realworld specs would probably include computer aided targeting, and servos to allow easier movement with the heavy weapon as well as acurate aiming. ingame specs would simply be a higher hit ratio, faster refire and weapon change times, and a slight negative on battlefield movement.

the whole thing is a quick fix that gives us back a little bit on the battlefield, but doesnt require alot of code changes on our skill tree and weaponry.

considering with the right skill tapes and plates, an armorsmith could come close to building this style of armor, it would seem to me that this would not be hard to implement.

what do you think?

Ooo you two just got me thinking....

they have new limited schematic weapons that have mods on them...why not give us limited armour schematics as well?

Would be cool looting special armour schematics with mods and such to arguement the basic armour (can be either new armour totally, or modded versions of the current like the themepark/schematic ones)

Also...having crafter modded armoursuits would be cool as well....actually give certain armours a more tactical role rather than just resists...

In fact, they should do that for weapons as well....perhaps this could be a way to have lower level weapons be used more than they already are being? (which for many are LOW!)

Cool ideas

I like it!

technically, the entire economy is driven by combat professions, so any kind of setup that will incorperate other professions is guarenteed to make overall gameplay much better!

Not only that, this will also involve the cooperation of crafters and perhaps faction recruiters (for specialized armour schematics and stuff) as well as everyone's favorite...loot!

We can customize our skills in SWG alot...why not allow us to tailor our armour to fit our skills (not just our ham stats)?

Everyone wins! Well..except for the guy that you had slain cuz of your nifty new skill modded armour!

Oh...also forgot to mention....perhaps this could also be done with new "Bio-engineered" style armour? Hey....tailors can give clothes mods that are mostly to provide certain defenses against things such as bleed, or give bonuses to warcry/intimidation/medical treatment....why not have the same thing for armour? but for skill mods pertaining to accuracy and defenses (Al la reinforced ST armour)

That way certain clothing which helps "clot" wounds so your bleeding defenses increases...have armour do the same for allowing accuracies or most preferred ranged/melee defenses....essentially another layer of skills (1 being yours, 2 being skill mods on clothing/armour, 3 being bio-engineered clothing, 4 could be this!)

that would be interesting... something sort of along the lines of Guyver armor from the manga, or better yet, maybe something like (im going back to the comics here) venom's symbiote or spawn's armor/cape. in the situation of bio-engineered or living armor, does the armor get its own chance to dodge or maybe even retaliate against an enemy? Melee would be a great deal more interesting.

thats going a little overboard, though. maybe bio-armor just provides an overall stat boost and preformance enhancement.

Lol....yes I was using bio engineered armour as there is currently no other name for it...

It be cool if DE could get some mods to put in the armour....like make a "Smart" Armour piece with droid circuitry....or have WS' craft special mods for weapons...and finally AS' have special defense mods to put in...

Like bio engineered stuff, but less than a profession devoted to bio engineered stuff (tho living armour would be cool!)....but then again this could undermine looted mods....but then again maybe not if done right (such as a lower cap on how high the mod go [like 5-10 rather than 25] and/or cant have looted mod attachments installed (either get your own, or have permenant skill mods attached...but at a reduced cap to balance)

ok, so what about armor that incorperates a few of these ideas together.

the armorsmith builds the base plate and takes it to a droid engineer.

the droid engineer wires it with the circuitry necessary for whatever stat bonus.

the AS finishes the plate and takes it, along with others, to a tailor, who meshes the plates together.

this can vary between the professions if you wanna bio-engineer it, make it technical, decorative or whatever.

the lootables can play a part here. say you loot a chip designed for droid fluidity in movement. you could incorperate it into a droid, or maybe put it in enhanced armor to promote balance against dizzy or stun effects.

you could do hundreds of different chips that could be employed in many different ways!

The easiest way to do it would probably allow a DE or WS to create "modules" which fit into the "Armour Enhancement" slot on Advanced Armour Segments, such as Nightsister Armour Shards do.

Here's some examles of armor types/styles I'd like to see added. Enough with the clucnky cumbersome stuff.

I'd like to see more stuff like the Verpine Head-band added further down the line - non-armor pieces that enhance your character's skills instead of outright prtection (plus it looks cool!)

I'd like to see cybernetic implants added at some point as well (BE/Doc/DE made maybe?) that enhance your characters normal abilities via providing some sort of natural boost in poison defense, stats, reflexes, accuracy, speed, etc.

I think everything should be more modifiable and customisable like that. Plus it adds a whole number of interdependancies. Human bio-mechanical engineering? DE/Doc needed. Natural bio-augmentation (sonar, poison filter or whatever), BE/Doc. "Smart" armour, DE/AS. And so on. The list could be huge.
