Thread: SHOULD ALL RANGED PROFESSION GET GRENADES

I just posted this in the Carbine forum and wanted to get some feedback from the Commandos.
It is a factthat all IMPERIAL STORMTROOPERS carry an Imperial Grenade on their utility belt. The left leg is designed for sniper support (knee) and the right houses the batteries to run the suit, but that is not important.
NOVA is there any chance with the combat balance to allow all RANGED profession to use GRENADES. I do not want to take anything away from commandos, I think they should get grenades along with host of other weapon, including a HEAVY repeating rifle (T21 Perhaps).
Every member of the Armed forces that goes through infantry training receives this type of training in both real life and in the STAR WARS universe. I would prefer for Grenade use to go into the COMBAT XP tree and only be for the ELETE RANGED PROFESSION (Rifle, Carbine, BH, Pistoleer). It would allow for all ranged profession to have access to other damage types (through the use of GRENADES blast, heat, acid), and with the combat revamp I am sure that greandes will be fixed so they can be more actively used in the game.
To the commandos, if all of the elite ranged profession can use these items, and they fix the accuracy and range problems, they will get "bug tested to death" and with the higher demand more weapon smiths will be crafting these items, making them cheaper and probably harder hitting.
These are just my thoughts, I am all for making the commando a better profession. I think you should get more specialized weapons, a better pistol, and a better rifles and carbines with specials.

Im just mad that grenades dont offer some chance for KD, you would think right???????

One more thing the commandos should really push for states. A grenade can casue a concusion or simply incapacitate a person for minutes.
Grenades should have STUN, BLIND, and DIZZY or a very high chance of all three.

Technically, don't all ranged professions get grenades? As all ranged professions start with Marksman; doesn't Marksman profession get the C22 grenade certification at novice level?

It is the C12but you do not get any accuracy or speed bonus to use greandes without commando, so evenwith the cert you will never hit anyting.

You want to use 1000-3000 dmg gernades without paying the 104 (I think) skill points? All I gotta say is no.

I'm all for sharing the C-22s with other ranged professions at the novice level, as the C-22s strike me as being the standard military issue grenade.
Being of a ranged profession and a member of the Imperial faction shouldbe the requirements forusing the Imperial Detonator, though.
Glops and cryos are specialty grenades that I think should go to BHs more than us; cryo to freeze their mark, and even though the glop does acid damage in-game, I believe the EU used them more like traps, covering a victim with goo that made it hard to move.
Proton grenades should remain commando only, as they look more like explosive charges than real grenades.
The thermal detonators, though... I'm torn on them, since I believe they were supposed to be illegal weapons (like disruptors). The only thing I can think is that if you're a master of an elite/hybrid ranged profession and a member of the Imperial faction, you are certified to use them (because the Empire tends to overlook laws when it's in their favor to do so), with the sole exception being master bounty hunters; a neutral or rebel MBH would be able to get them via black market.

Actually, C12s are moderately effective.
Against Nightsister Protectors, who are completely immune to Carbineers normally, they are *vastly* superior to any weapon in the Marksman, Carbineer, Pistoleer or Rifleman Tree, bar the Striker Pistol. And they're just a little bit better than one of those too.

What I want to know is why are all storm troopers issued Imperial Detonator in the movies...becuase they can use them. All of the STs are not commanods.
Yes I want the grenades, I also want commandos to be bad asses, Keep you HAR, make the acid rifle a bad ass heavy repeating rifle. You should get your rocket launcher fixed, get a good pistol. Most heavy weapons have a heavy gun and a pistol as a backup.
This is not a nerf, hell your own correspondent thought taking the LLC from BH would be cool, during the revamp it is time to open your eyes and you mind to other possibilites.

Hmm, I wonder if we could get grenades made useable by all combat classes on an equal level (of course this would require complete revamping of the current grenade system, speed, damage, accuracy, etc) and get Field Tactics to be something completely different?

Maybe...
But anyways, all ranged professions already can use C12's....this is like a standard frag nade...but Commandos specialize as a grenaider as well! So we're better and have more nades 
So in a way, we're a specialization....
ingame...ST's are Master Carbineers...in SWG...they're Field Tactic IV/Master Carbineers
