I just became novice commando and i am really looking forward to mastering. I have gone through the commando forum stickies and recent posts and i don't think i could find anything on this.

Well basically i'm not sure what to do, as i say i'm Novice commando and have quite a good launcher pistol, i know that the best way of grinding (from what i'm told) is to use the launcher pistol to get to x/x/3/x then flamer, except i use the pistol with overcharge shot 2, and in about an hour i lost around 900 condition on it! Not using specials takes me ages to kill anything, and so i'm stuck on what to do to level, what specials i use, what i hunt, until when etc. without completely destroying my pistol

I'd appreciate it if someone could reply with an answer other than a link to a sticky as i checked them and they didn't answer all my questions..

Thanks!

Use /bodyshot1 and /healthshot1. i belive you get them in novice marksman. If you got pistoleer, then use the /bodyshot2 and /healthshot2. good damage with a lot less condition loss.

Ditto . . .

And if you have smuggler, last ditch will be your friend. I used the launcher pistol back when it gave pistol XP, so I used my FL to grind. You will notice quite a difference one you get a few trees. Once you have the FL tree, then you can grind the rest of commando with your FL.

I have noticed that a modest amount of increase in your max damage translates to a substancial amount of MORE damage you actually inflict on your target. If you have the means get the best FL you can get (this may be obvious, but I thought I'd throw that out there).

I've also seen recent recomendations to try doing PBarea with the FT; have yet to try it myself but it sounds reasonably promising.

if nothing else a good way to start off the flamer tree is find a speed sliced flamer and use overcharge shot kills condition but makes things go quicker

Point Blank Area 1 + flamethrower is brutally effective, especially out on Endor.

I tore my way through Commando using this manner on my altin less than 3 full buff sessions.
