Thread: The Commando Web Site Is Up....

Ok...before I give out the web site address I need to preface this...The site is not complete...I'm not sure if it will ever be complete because I'm one of those types that is never truely satisfied with my work...I still have a lot more content to add, but I wanted to let you all dig into it starting today...
So, without further adu, go check out:
Once there, feel free to create a membership (the way to customize the site to your personal preferences, set up your stat page and get yourself on the member roster)...
Once there you'll notice a ton of stuff to check out and get involved in...You'll even notice a "User Point" system...the "points" are basically meaningless...it gives members points for different things they do on the site (submit articles, links, comments, etc.)...I thought it might be fun to see how different members rank on their involvement level...not everything gives points currently...I'm looking at tweaking the system to add more point possiblities and may, way down the road, start contests based on point scores...every 30 days the points reset...I've already got a nice head start (lol)...
So poke around and see what you can find...and feel free to start submitting links, screenshots, articles, etc...just be aware that currently everything has to be approved by me so it could take up to 24 hours (typically a lot less) to see your submission go like...Eventually I will pick a few people and make them Admins of certain areas in case anyone wants to help out...
I still have a few things to add like the Chat and a few more topics (like Commando Personal Stories)...
So just remember...not everything has content yet...and I didn't use everything that was sent me (not because I didn't like it, but because I wanted to try and get things up in as many different places as possible as well as leave room for others to submit stuff so I can make sure things are working as intended)...
I tried to incorporate as many of the ideas and suggestions as possible...like I said earlier, more is coming and this will constantly be a growing project...It will grow faster with you all getting involved and making submissions...so get to it already...I can't promise everything will get approved, but I'll try (sometimes things will be duplicates or just not fit)...
As for the articles section, there are many various topics for you to pick from if you'd like to write something to be posted on the site, and this includes an Opinion area for Editorials...All I ask is that if you write an opinion, try and keep it insiteful and not just flaming for flame sake...
This site is geared towards Commandos, but the way I've set it up, Non-Commandos should find it useful as well...So any Non-Commandos out there are welcome to join the site as well...Membership is completely free...
So enjoy everyone...Just be aware that things may disappear or new things added over the next couple of weeks as I tweak the site further (even the site look/feel may change)...I may think of more to post later, but right now my brain is pretty much mush from lack of sleep the last week (working on this site every night until 2am)...This has been a major labor of love....

heh yes, the flaming icons are a nice touch.
I like the camo style font for the banner's Commando too, nice change

A chat room would be kinda cool...Now I know it would be empty a lot. But schedualed chats might work! Just a thought...it might be cool to meet the boys in one place and not just on the boards or scatterd across so many Galaxies.

We're working on that, Braven. I'm trying to talk Garvin into putting the room on the server I live on. The staff are all pretty nice (except for me ).

Garvin,
I'm new to this Board as in responding but i have been lurking these forums Especially this board for about 4 monthes now. I love what you have done Putting the Site up and love the layout on it. I have always like The commando profession and was able to master it about a month ago and it is FUN I wouldn't want to give it up for anything and What you have been mentioning about the Combat Rebalance has made me sure about my choice of sticking with Commando while my buds have gone FOTM with swordsman and teras kasi. I only picked up pikeman for the defense and hitting things with a big stick
