I was reading the feature regarding the Combat Rebalance Rifles.
This one caught my concern:
Explosive Shell Sniper Rifle
Effective Range: Long
Type: Rifle
Description: A power rifle capable of taking down even the toughest targets.
Sounds to me like a Blast Damage Weapon. If this does go to Riflemen, then what purpose do we as Commandos have? Swordsmen already have the Powerhammer and can perform much better demolition work than we can.
Just something I want to bring up since no one has mentioned this yet.

This gun sounds kick ass. I cant wait for the CU man, awsomness. I'm guessing we'r getting some kick ass carbine too, totally sweet with my current template role of BH specials. Its probably just a rumor but I think the underslung made it too. Posting the link I found if I find it again
Edit: Victory! here it is :

Guys, maybe what StarNick is trying to say, is that there might be no CERTS anymore.
Or they will function less spesificly.
Like, if you are a ranged combat dude, you can use all the ranged weapons, BUT you will get better damage or something, if you spesialize in it.
I realy dont have any idea, but when StarNick starts talking in "codes", ideas start to come to my head...

That should, I think, mean it's a commando weapon, though I doubt we'll get it. At the least, they should split the cert between riflemen and commandos.
Even with a split cert with Riflemen and Commandos, we still don't avoid this: Another profession being better at demolition work than Commandos themselves.
The thing is a Rifle and will use Rifle mods. Riflemen of course will be the masters of Rifles and Commandos will never have skills to equal or surpass Riflemen's ranged skills. So with a split certification at Rifleman, Commando, or even somewhere in Marksman, Riflemen will outperform us if this thing is indeed going to be a Blast Damage weapon.
Riflemen can already do wonders better than us with the AP3 rated T21 (Energy). Swordsmen are the best in taking down heavy equipment due to the Powerhammer (AP3 w/ Blast!). Riflemen with a Blast Damage Rifle will completely negate the need for Commandos' heavy duty work.
Why bother with a hybrid profession's consumeable heavy weapons like the expensive Rocket Launcher, when you can have a Rifleman do better, faster work with a non-consumeable, Blast damage Rifle?
powerhammers are ap2

It's going to rifles. Key words, Sniper, Rifle. Rifles=an actual sniper in the CU.

I'd say you're probably htitting pretty close to the mark. We really need to get used to the idea that the game, by the end of the CU, will have been turned on it's head, and will bea completely different beast (and hopefully, a good one).

Well...once Freud said that a Cigar is just a Cigar. Combat will be, in the best possible manner of description, 720 degrees different...
But you can sure as bet that there will be certs
, its not changing THAT much <grin>
However...the second part, nixxing the getting all ranged weapons if you're a ranged combat dude...is partly true. Atm weapons and specials are very restricted (ie Pistols only good for Pistol specials)...when the CU hits, you can bet your best friend that even riflemen skills will improve your overall combat rating if you're a Pistoleer by trade...

Talking in codes? Is that what it sounds like...? Im trying to drop hints the old fashion garvin way....I may not be as good as he could be...but Im definately not speaking in code. If I was, i'd be doing it in Mandalorian
-and- using vocab that I haven't published into the Mandalorian for Dummies thread....

Still anything explosive screams Commando. Though we do have a rifle. It's tacky though. You ever seen the little hole it has for a barrel. I'm not sure how it fires bolts so big. Oh and my Acid Rifle is been changing colors on the side where it use to be green. Now it will go red or black.
We really only need a kick-ass Carbine to complete our weapon arsenal. I do have fun sniping Meatlump with my Acid Rifle but that is about it. :/
Hmm that was a really big riddle Starnick. But it is one more pierce I understand. Hmm just hope we don't have ranged stacking lol. I can just imagine strafe shot with a pistol or carbine the way you talk about it. Or body shot with a Rifle. That's kind of the way I think things will happen. And every ranged profession will add more defense to the other in a weird way. I forget tumbling won't happen no more with a new spam bar/timer for specials. I hope they are upgrading the servers too so lag is lesened. And I really hope they add that thing that was on TC where you couldn't shoot through terrain. Would be so nice if walls and dried river beds provided actual cover.
I dream of day when Rebels and Imperials fight each other from trenchers and I a Commando will throw grenades at the Rebels from the trench. or I could always run up to them as some people give covering fire and I launch a big old rocket in their faces. Arg!
Of course I dream of an E-Web. Just imagine so Commando. The Rebels number 50. Imperials 18. You get in your big old E-Web and let lose those blaster bolts and mow down the adavncing Rebels one by as they quickly die from a couple shots. My comrades move in front of me somewhat so they get shot first so I can kill the Rebels without getting blown off my E-Web. When the smoke clears only a couple of my friends are alive incapped that is. And I sit by E-Web and look on in awe at the Rebel Corpses.
Yea...
Something like that.

Unlearn what you have learned...the current system and the CU are two different beasts. The problems we're facing now may be non-existent after the CU...
Every profession will have a role...
Edited for some Clarifcation so Ryubushi wont be sad

Unlearn what you have learned...the current system and the CU are two different beasts. The problems we're facing now could very well be totally different in the CU in terms of specific damage types...
So, they're not going to fix anything for us, just transform our existing issues into new problems? *cries*
Every profession will have a role...
We already have our role; we're the proverbial village idiots.
...dammit, I think I just depressed myself again.
STOP LETTING ME DO THAT!
