Hi!
I am TKM and Master Commando atm. When I am in combat (lets take an Imperials for example).
When I use TKM, I get damaged for like a 100, maybe less. But if I try switching to Commando, BOOM! I loose 700+ HAM (mostly action or health) in one shot from a Dark Trooper, he is using ranged as well. If I swich back to TKM, and he is still using ranges, its back to less than 100 damage.
My rifleman friend, can solo AT-ST with other imps shooting at him. The AT-ST only do 100 damage to him. And he kills it in a mater of seconds.
So my Commando is mostly useless now. I have 92 ranged defence, and 98 melee defence.
I have this armor on me (only wearing 4 peace's: Helmet, Chest, Glowes and Boots, but so do my friend):
SP
80% Kinetic
80% Electricity
80% Energy
4% Stun
4% Stun
BASE
All over 80%, besides helmet, wich is 70%.
And when I look at my Combat window, I see that my armor stops blocking damage from attacks. When I go back to melee, it starts protecting me again. THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!

Is he intimidated when you attack him with commando? The toughness difference between tkm and commando is a big difference. commando has no toughness so they get hit a lot harder.

No, he is not intimidated, they are immune to that. But still, 700 in one shot? Its like I dont even have armor one me...

Thats why I mainly use TKM when fighting solo and Commando when I got a tank with me
Or when im soloing High end MOBs I do a quick intimidate then4-8 flame DOTs with my fastest FTsand then FD.
This is why we wanted more Defencive mods for Commandos

yep, like that man said, good old fashion unarmed toughness. I did riflemen and it was the same thing. As a TKM a krayt hits me for 600 but as riflemen it's 1600.

Oki, so when I switch weapon to FT, all my melee defences just desappear? Now thats just sucks /cry bigtime
Oki, the toughness is gone, but what about my 98 melee defence? That gota count for something...

No, you defenses are still there but how the hit affects you isn't there. As TKM the hits are not as hard because of toughness but riflemen doesn't have that. But you still have the same defenses. Riflemen or TKM you still get hit the same amount of times it's just as a riflemen the hits do more DMG.

It's the unarmed toughness mod. I flat out gave up on using ranged weapons once I realized that if I ran around with no ranged weapons out, I didnt' even need armor in most circumstances - the TKM unarmed toughness is that good.
Post-CU I'm speculating it'll probably act as a universal toughness modifier, kinda like picking up the toughness line of feats in KOTOR or DnD.

ok what yall are saying aint making sense. it could easily be the unarmed toughness EXCEPT that any melee toughness is only supposed to work against melee attacks, at least that is my understanding of all the melee prof toughness. the poster said the trooper wasnt using melee atacks but still using ranged. as to why the increased damage? perhaps the dark trooperwas using a specail when you has swithced. i dont know, would have to look aty your combt spam, but dark troopers just hit real real hard anyway, i get hit for 700 damageby them eaasy while holdin mypistol. ive also watched 3 of my freinds get smacked around na dhave to run for it from one of them, and two of em were tka

Ok dude you're not making much sense also. I'll break it down for you.
For me,
If I get attack by a Krayt (melee), these are the DMG done to me:
TKM - 600
RIFLEMEN - 1600
If I get attack by a sith thug (ranged), these are the DMG done to me:
TKM - 1100
RIFLEMEN - 1100
One professions mitigation or toughness doesn't help another. The Defences (melee or ranged) do cross over, like dizzy or knockdown. Everybody gets the same ranged DMG done to them. But melee profession gets less DMG done to them on a Melee attack then a Ranged profession does. So Either way a Melee guy has better chances of survival then a ranged guy.

Thanks I have found this very helpful. I became a Master Commando over a year ago during the Holocron Frenzy, I loved it so much I have stayed with it. Now I find all of this useful information in an easily accessible form. Paradise
