Thread: Commando needs cohesiveness

I am a master commando. I noticed that commando lacks cohesiveness through the four columns. Each branch is a seperate skill set. One doesn't add to the other. Take CH for example. You must grow taming and training together in order to get out, say, a toxic merek battlelord. But I can grow up the flame column to grenadier and be very strong in that alone, disregarding all other columns. We all know this. But how can this be solved, so a player has to spend more than20 skill points to become essentially a master commando, save flamecone2. I have only vague ideas, and that is why I'm putting this out there. To me a commando is the elite of the elite, but I can't see this in the current structure, or when I get clobbered by a gnort for 400 points of damage. That just isn't too elite.

How about /Buttstroke1 and /Buttstroke2--similar to pistolwhip, or unarmed knockdown, complete with dizzy--used when FT or (shudder) the HAR is equipped. I almost forgot about the launcher pistol: how bout a /swift elbowtothenose1 and /kneetothegroin1 when LP is equipped. See, I'm just looking for a way to mitigate the 2.5X damage we suffer. And tie all the columns together somewhat, so that master actually means something more that +40 accuracy. cone2,and a proton grenade cert.

We need some kind of protection to become an elite class. We don't need more, bigger, better weapons. We need better defense and cohesion. And we certainly don't need to be nerfed again and again because some people bitch about the Flame DOT. I've been set on fire plenty, and I've done my share of setting on fire. Isn't that why we have medics?

Anyway, I really like being a commando. I just don't want to see 850 points floating away when a dewback nips me in the ass. Really....

i agree with you tottally, though the name of some of your moves would prolly have to go :-P

Thunderheart has a thread running asking for our suggestions, hopfully the devs will listen to him more than they listened to our previous two corospondants and some changes (for the better) will happen.

I dont know about the rebellion, but the Empire frowns on anyone even thinking of butt stroking. Its not fair, but those are the rules, and I for one am not going torisk a /forcechoke by breaking them.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!..............buttstroke........thats funny.

"I am a master commando. I noticed that commando lacks cohesiveness through the four columns. Each branch is a seperate skill set. One doesn't add to the other."

You got it wrong. Each branch is irrelevant to the grenadeer tree. No need to use grenades, flamer will do better. No need to use har, flamer will do better. No need to use shoulder mounted weapons (except when atst hunting), the flamer will do much better. Not to mention HAR/FLAME trees are mirror skillsets.

HAR/FLAME should be in ONE tree (Assault Heavy Weapons), BEAM RIFLE should replace the HAR tree (box1= Beam Arc (read:same flame/acid cone1, but no dot and 10 second 'cooldown')..damage be 4k max.. box2: Focus Fire (beam rifle fires a single-target beam that does 500 damage every 1 second and consumes 100 points of action ham bar per second..and keeps firing until commando has no more action ham, target dies or target runs out of range), box3: Charge (melee range attack, commando hits target with rifle butt, causing target to knockdown and dizzy) box4: Focus Fire2 (sams as 1, but damage is 1000 per second, action ham cost 150 AND 100 mind per second), master title gives the beam rifle the Focus Arc (combination of Beam arc and Focus Fire.. aka targets in a cone in front of commando will get hit.. ham costs are 150 action 100 mind per second, damage is 1500 per second). Only Beam Arc has a 'cooldown' timer because the other beam rifle specials literally drain the commando of his mind and action.

Grenades must be throwable from 30m max with accuracy +, have effects. C12 stun c22 blind cryo warcry glop supression fireimperial bleed proton knockdown, thermal fire dot.

Shoulder mounted weapons should do 50% more damage, ALL be AP3 and, these must be the ONLY commando weapons that should be able to choose the HAM bar to hit. SOE must add a command like 'aim' for the shoulder weapons, which would tell the shoulder mounted weapon which ham bar to hit. So click on 'body' shoulder mounted 'aim' command, click on the shoulder weapon (say, hpbc), and it fires at target hitting the health ham bar.

If this is not done then commando shoulder mounted weapons are useless. Go fight an ATST, fire off 3 rockets. Theres a 66% chance that the 2nd and 3rd rockets will hit different ham bars ,making this weapon utterly useless unless you are lucky.

'But why is Fantasia dying then?'

'But why?'

Hey, Tex77,

I thought the empire thrived on buttstroking....LOL....

I just read in this very forum that melee mitigation is happening, and none too effff-ing late. Being an ex-TK master (thank you holocron., I'm very much used to being able to absorb massive damage. Perhaps a commando will be a commando and not some wuss carrying a flamethrower. BTW, I still like the name /buttstroke, but it would only apply to Imps.......

LOL...

See ya on the battlefield...

Actually the Empire has a strictdont ask, dont tell policy. I think thats why i see so many rebels these days. They feel more free to be themselves there. So /buttstroke is IMHO definitely more likely to occur in an "openly rebel" city. MUAHAHAHA!!! (rememeber you started this )Maybe the emperor and vader were alone together a lot. So what? It doesnt have to mean anything.
