Thread: Are any of the heavy charged weapons worth using?
I'm currently a 4-3-4-3 commando, but haven't really been using the charged heavy weapons at all. Now that I have a few +accuracy mods, I was thinking about trying to use them more. I know they're ridiculously expensive per shot, but I'll ignore that for now. It does hurt the availability as most weaponsmiths won't make them so I haven't seen the stats on that many, but I wonder if any commandos find them helpful in battle. Only worth using against AT-ST's? When do people use them? Which do they find most useful. I used one to help take down an enraged rancor which was kinda fun...but I was just messing around, and knowing that I only hit 1/2 shots and that my flame DOT did a lot more damage, was kinda disappointing. So, any recommendations or advice?
Thanks,
Thargrove
I like the HPBC myself. They seem to miss less than the rocket launcher. Just my two cents.

Agreed. The HPBC is the only one worth using. RLs miss so often that you'll burn through your stack of 30 in a day. And the other two, being the acid stream launcher and the lightning beam cannon, are just garbage.
I'm Novice Commando with some Weaponsmith skills, so I'm cranking out heavy particle beam cannons like there is no tomorrow ![]()
Sure will be cheap, until I've run out of those. I plan to drop Weaponsmith so I can become Master Commando but I'll evaluate those cannons, haven't done that yet, gonna get the first heavy weapon skill box today.
Thanks for the feedback guys. From what I'd seen, the HBPC seemed decent, so I'll mess around with it more. Now I just have to find someone on Corbantis who'll make them...and cheap!
I hope with vehicles they'll really emphasize making the rocket launcher anti-vehicular. It really should be a max-range weapon with a huge accuracy bonus to vehicles and penalty to personnel. It's one weapon where I'd actually like to see ammunition used. Have the launcher be one item, and the rockets be another. Maybe a stack of 5 or something. I just think there's a lot of room for improvement and imagination in regards to heavy weapons...and I really hope we se something cool with them sometime.

Remember to make a macro using /aim;/ui toolbatSLot##(this is whatever the number of the quickslot is you have drug you HPBC to). For instance mine is on slot23 so it looks like /aim;/ui toolbarSlot23 . At box 4 of heavy weapons support your HPBC accuracy is +80 and aim adds +30 accuracy(I think)to any special or regular attack you do. Because you have to stop and fire a heavy weapon off the /aim is very useful with them.
In fact I have a friend who didn't have alot of Skill Points left and wanted pistoleer because of specials but also wanted pistol specials in Smuggler Dirty Fighting tree. I suggested he take the Dirty Fighting 3(atleast) and make a macro with /aim;/low blow then make another macro with /aim;/panicshot. He did and now regularly drops peeps with these two macros then follows up with /aim;/ui toolbarSlot12(guessing at the slot number he has his HPBC on). In fact i is working well for him and I am following suite heh. And if for some odd reason the HPBC did not incap his target he has enough time to run up and FlameSingle2.
