Hey guys just wanted to know what you think is the best combination of professions with Commando is? Or at least your opinion. I would like to know because I am a novice commando but I have all these skill points that ive wasted on other things too so i'm going to have to free up some skill points for commando and another profession. I've heard BH and Commando is good but i want to know what you think. Plus i don't have a lick of explorer xp yet which i need to start working on pronto but yea please give me some feed back. Oh and I hope that they do some good stuff for Commando I haven't been playing galaxies long only a month and i'm only CL19 right now but I've heard so much negativity on commando that i hope the devs can change what is wrong and broken and make this a happy community board once again. Well thanks for your guys time i really appreciate it Laterz, :-D

as far as the 'best' combo is, i don't think there is one, only the 'best' tactics and equipment. however, i understand that commando goes better with a ranged profession, than with a melee, for offensive power that is. i suggest going to check out the other ranged profession's specials, and see which you would like to add to commando. also, it seems that most people recommend getting cm 4xxx for self healing, although, a few people claim that all you need is novice medic, and a few bioengineered healing efficiency pieces of clothing.

after i get back and get used to the combat upgrade, i'm going to try a few templates out myself, before i decide which one to settle in on. i'm guessing you don't have that luxury though. try thislink

every template has pros and cons, you just have to decide which one fits your playstyle most.

good luck and welcome to commando.

BH goes really well with commando since it give really good defences and other mods, the special also work pretty well for damage. My temp is Master Commando, Master Bounty Hunter, Pistoleer xxx4, and combat prowess x4xx. With some good assault armor, stim d's and ruby bliel you will be able to heal your self pretty well with out having to relie on mind for heal since that will drain pretty fast in a fight. With Pistoleer I get +40 to ranged and melee defence plus improved stopping shot. Also Critcal Shot from BH doe some nice damage when combined with a good Plasma Flame Thrower, I hit for about 550 a shot with improved crit on a lvl 80 and generally stick flame Dots in the mid to upper 300s on top of that. Advanced Crit will increase damage even more, haven't finished temp yet so don't have the hard numbers. Dualist stance also is a eal good BH abilty, reg dualist boost defence by 150 for 30 secs and improved dualist by 250 for 30 sec. I think this is the best for my style of play, you will prolly play with a lot of temps before you find whats right for you and your style of play, this is my 5th commando temp so far and for me it works, hope you find what works for you quickly so you don't have to grind over and over agian.

Thankyou for your guys help. I know it all depends on style and all about tactics and how you want to go about it. I just like to have a idea of what others have done so then i can take from that and do my own thing but at the same time learning. I am still quite the noob so yeah knowledge is power.

Just remembered some stuff from some previos temps. If your a pure damge kinda person then rifleman works great, you would be able to dish out a ton of damage in a short time but will take alot as well since rifleman has some poor defences adn it will drain your action in no time flat. Pistoleer works great for crowd control since you can place multiple states and roots on entire groups with our AOE weapons specially if you combine it with carbineer xx1x for charge shot which is a knockdown, you'll have some decent defences but will still take alot of damage pretty quick and the specials drain action pretty quick as well, damage will also be well below what rifleman is capable of but still be reasonably effective. Combine with rilfe and pistol are both group orianted temps and with a good group and good tactics you can be a very valuable and in the case of rilfe devastating addtion but will have a real tough time soloing due to the low defences and will relie pretty heavily on a healer against any of the higher level enemies and mobs. BH just seems to make for the most versitile temp since you can hold your own in a fight with out a healer and still stick some nice states and dots for crowd control and still do some pretty good damage. Hope this is of help to you. If you have any other question don't hesitate to ask, we are glad to help a fellow commando. Also what sever are you on? If your on Bloodfin you can look me up in game if you need help or have any questions, my IGN is Miyamato.

I realy like the smugglers crowd control abilities. The root/daze shot is realy helpful in tight combat. You need to use Reckless shot as the damageshot though, but I'm not sold on that one since it lowers your defense. Might wanna pick up a good pistoleer attack or something.

On my unlocked char (10 trips left to the Village) I think I'm gonna do Master Commando/Master Smuggler/0400BH or 0040Medic.. not 100% decided. I'm playing without medic now and it goes, but it's hard to solo then.

master commando, master riflemen and 0404 pistols

w/ advanced aim and pryo i just hit a jedi for 1500 dmg in pvp w/ sniper shot

gotta love the proton rifles

i love the insane accuracy w/ this template, it's one huge drawback is the lack of any medic (im still getting used to this =/)

The best combination of professions is the one that YOU have FUN with.

That's all that matters.

You can crunch up numbers or take up one of the FOTM-esque templates out there. Doing so will usually result in increased success.

However, if you don't like how the template feels, or you're not having fun with it, then you will change to another one. Or stop playing from not liking your character. One of the two, guaranteed.

Example: I used to have Master Marksman / Master Carbineer / Master Pistoleer / Rifleman 4403. That template is actually very nice for a Pure Combat Template, enough specials to make anyone short of a Jedi look like a puppet on strings if you know what you're doing. Fast, accurate, and having a huge toolbox of specials to do anything to practically anyone. But I didn't have fun with it, despite the obvious greatness of that template. I liked Hvy.Weapons (but they're borked ATM). I also loved Carbines and Rifles. Even before the CU, I was never a fan of pistols. So, I switched around and finally settled on Master Marksman / Master Carbineer / Master Rifleman / Pistoleer 0434. Now I am a master of Rifles and Carbines and have the pertinent Mods to be fully proficient in them. And I absolutely love the template.

Your first template in SWG will not be great, unless you cop out and be just like another Lemming. But learn from your first template (and mistakes) and tweak it to what you want it to be. A good profession calculator like "Kodan's SWG Prof Calc" will guide you a bit on the professions you like and the numbers crunching.
