Thread: How good are grenades?

Hey...


Just wondering how good the grenades are.


Would have 4000 commando.


Are they worth using them?

Grenades are the equivalent of Firecrackers.

Sure, they SOMETIMES land states or DOTs.

But Grenades are supposed to be for Damage, and Damage isn't what grenades can't even decently do.

Then there's the timers.

To be honest, don't waste the SPs just to get 4000 Commando.

For damage, they pretty much suck. 1k damage looks nice until you can only do it every 7 seconds or so. If you're ducking behind walls continuously maybe that's not so bad but if you miss time it not only do you not throw the grenade, the timer kicks in as if you did.

That being said, I'm going through about 15-25 imperial detonators per night pvping. Nothing says love like KDing a hoard of charging jedi and letting your high powered gunners cut them down. I'd rather have a stack of stims or even a fishing rod then a stack of most any other grenade though.

i read in a previous post that grenades are restricted by line of sight, which really upsets me. that defeats the whole tactical purpose ofgrenades.. grrrr.

With out a doubt, as weapons, grenades are far and away the best door stops in SWG.

I need only two words, rather than the whole sentences and whatnot you guys had to use to produce an answer:

Grenades suck.


Buuut since im the correspondent, that wouldn't be right. Grenades, right now:

  • Come (still) in small 5 stacks

  • Hard to craft/time consuming - hence pricey

  • Only do significant damage when you equip a weapon (if not, you shall sucketh more)

  • Cruddy state effects (ie snare = 3 seconds)

  • Cruddy timers (ie cyroban, that produces the snare = 18-25 second throw timer

  • They aggro everything and everything's mother in an angry hissy fit that will be ye doom in PvE

  • Might be decent in PvP...the Imperial Detonator for KD, but for damage? Dont bother, best you could get normal grenades would be around 1.1k damage so you're better off using normal weapons. You can power-up them, and enhance the glop grenade...but expensive, time consuming, and for little result

    And btw...forgot: Grenade AoE seems to start at your feet rather than where your grenade hits.

    And cyrom - note I said decent in PvP...Imperial Detonators can be fairly potent with the Radius size and KD effect.

    Oddly enough, I have never really noticed this. It could just be that people are actually closer then my computer is displaying them though.
