When I first started playing this game in June '03 I was immediately captivated by the thought of playing a mid ranged high damage dealer with a nice area DOT, grenades, Rockets Launchers, and Acid Rifles.
No one on my server could make a flamer yet because the resources had not yet spawned. I bought used guns off of the Bazaar and started to work on the marksman tree. After finishing master marksman and UA4 I threw down all the money I had on a brand new launcher pistol.
I started running Matriarch Bantha missions out of Anchorhead for 4 - 6 hours every day, building up Hvy Weaps xp and harvesting the Wooly Hide that the crafters seemed to covet so much. Soon the right resources spawned and I was able to buy my first Flame Thrower for 75k. To do so I had to travel off planet for the first time and landed on a strangely green planet named Naboo.
On the way back to Tat I was given a load in screen with the picture of a Dragon that apparently lived on Tat, this screen hinted of secret treasures that could lay within a dragons belly.
I started to ask around for any information people could give me on the location of these powerful and majestic beasts of the desert. Soon I learned that they lived in a remote part of the planet in the Dune Sea. I bought a small house and set out on foot from Mos Entha to Mos Taike. Once there I found a cloning center, a bank, and an empty cantina were all that the town had to offer. This will have to do I said to myself as I opened an account, cloned, and began the dangerous journey across the Dune Sea on foot.
The crossing was perilous, and many times the sea of red dots was just more than a young commando in a trench coat could handle. But soon enough I made it to the edge of a vast canyon and placed my home. The next day when I logged in I was thrilled and in awe of the gigantic beasts that I was now sharing my yard with. Every day was a new adventure as myself and a few other adventerous souls attempted to fell the great beasts. Soon I had shared in enough loot to buy myself a set of armor. The full set of Krayt enhanced composite had kinetic resistances of 55% to 65% on every piece and I felt like a god now facing the beasts that had been able to kill me in one shot just the day before.
It was August of '03 and I was a Master Commando. When I would pass people stood in awe at the sight of the first Master Commando tag on our server, dressed for battle in a full set of Krayt composite armor wielding a mighty Krayt enhanced Flame Thrower. In PVE I was unrivaled, and in PVP enemies rightly feared the splash and burn of my red hot death.
In those early days many mysterious dragon pearls were found. Little was known about them other than they were a weapon component of some kind, and yet no weapon smith could seem to use them. I thought it best to keep collecting them until I knew what they were truely for. Then it happened, a flash across my screen SOMEONE HAD BECOME A JEDI!
Rumors abounded as to how this was accomplished. Soon it was realized that mastery of professions and these strange objects called holocrons were the key. I donned my Composite and set off to the green world once again, this time in search of these rare boxes of knowledge and power.
With the power of my Flame thrower it was not long before I found what I sought. A strange glowing red pyramid. I tensed myself and prepared to activate it, wondering at the knowledge it would soon divulge to me. IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE GREAT POWER YOU MUST FIRST MASTER THE PROFESSION OF DANCER. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I gathered many of these holocrons, and even used a few more to see if I could change my fate. Alas it was not to be. They all told me the same thing. I left Naboo and returned to the Dune Sea. I spent the next two months killing Dragons in a frenzy to avoid the thought of dropping my beloved profession. Near the end of that first year the dragons had their health increased ten fold. No longer was I the master of the Graveyard. It was time to start dancing.
Succes came to me again when after mastering 30 professions I unlocked my Force Sensitive Charchter Slot. I created my Jedi and set out to reclaim the title of Master Commando on my main toon. But things had changed for the profession, Commando was no longer the formidable profession it once had been. In order to successfully hunt my favorite prey I would need to give up my desire to reclaim my first love, and sadly my flamers would sit idle for a long, long time.
That Summer we had a revamp of the Jedi profession. They were creating a discipline known as Force Wielder. A mid ranged damage dealer with a strong DOT, Lightning, and area attacks. Could this profession give me back what I have been missing so much? So it was decided, I would make my Jedi a Master of the Darkside of the Force as soon as the patch went in.
A full year later I have taken my main back to Master Commando, and my Jedi remains a Master Force Wielder. In truth neither of them are the most powerful profession that one could choose. But I have my memories of what a profession like this can be, and I hold out hope that some day soon I will be able to experience it again.
