Ive just decided to return to commando, got bored of BH, and im extremely unhappy with the state of this profession because it quite simply doesnt feel like a commando should.
Im also a smuggle and with these skills commando is a perfect crowd controller though if i removed my smuggler specials the commando would have absolutly no role at all besides helping blow up bases.
We should just be heavy weapon specialists because commandos arnt just people with heavy weapons they use rifles and what ever ranged weapon is most suitable, though saying that since commando im pretty much all situations is forced to use non-commando weapons they lack the specials and versatility of other hybrid professions like BH which does have useful specials.
A commando in SWG is defined by his weapons and at prestent these are ineffective in nearly all situation's except for crowd control and my perception a rocket launcher is to make something explode not stand still for 40's or reduce their combat speed or add what ever state.
Commando needs to be more than a heavy weapon specialist and not only that heavy weapons need to be feared on the battleground though if heavy weapons were what i think they should be they would be very unbalanced which is why we have the situation at present.
I was looking forward to seeing what the CU has done to commando and as good as it is for crowd control it destroys what it should be and makes only a few viable templates because if i wanted to go rifles with a hybrid profession i would choose BH which has excellent specials, with awesome weapons, and very good defences where as commando appears to be a lot of nothing and if anything is less effective in the CU than it was before.
A pistoleer was able to easilly outdamage the master commando in my group which doesnt make sense to me since as a commando we are defined by the weapons we use so surely the commando weapons should add some serious hurt but wrong again.
In a non-spin group or non-pvp commando is a serious handicap for anyone to add to their team since their aoe effects npc's and mobs all over the place which makes life harder and doesnt add anything to the group.
Im a master smuggler and commando works well with it though i completely disagree with commando working the way it does presently because it doesnt feel like commando doing this crowd control role.
Though i wont be commando for long im getting the master badge and dropping it unfortunately this is one of the forgotten professions which will sadly never be fixed in a way which is realistic and commando like.

Agreed, But after i see what they do with Squadleader i have good hopes we get a ugrade too in time... First rangers tho
