Thread: A new weapon idea, that makes to much sense!

Ok, i was just reading a thread, forgot what about, lol, but sparked an idea:
A Commando weapon/skill tree should be a knife or melee weapon.
Heres where i get the logistics:
-We need Brawler and Unarmed Skills
-Its a commando, aka, he is a ultimate killing machine
-To be a killing machine, you need to be able to drop your flamer, whip out a knife, and start slitting throats.
-Commandos, the word makes you thing uber soldier, so wouldnt it be cool to burst run up to a Player and stab him?
Idea for weapon:
-Brass Knuckle type looking, with spikes at the Knuckles- It will be silver or black.
-Spec Ops Knife- Big, powerful, got some AP.
Stats for Spec Ops Knife:
Type Damage: Kinetic OR Cold
Armor Pen: Medium (its a knife for hells sake)
Speed: 3.0, can be made better (almost same speed as Vibro Knuckler)
Damage: 100-210 (Maybe a tad less, can be made better)
These are just some thoughts on a Melee weapon for Commandos. Maybe if they are in a certain tree, you can add more melee weapons, with different Damage type and what nots.
In my opinion, when i hear Commando, i think of a stealth, do what it takes to complete missions/kill. I see a Commando sometimes rushing in, shootin people, blow up stuff, and doing some Covert Ops and slitting some throats.
Please comment and/or leave your thoughts/ideas.

im going for comando and putting unarmed into comado would be cool but then again im also a tk so i can drop my weapon and kick ass.

Well ... I don't want to swap weapons in battle so ...
What we need is rifle melee fighting. People in armed services learn how to bash people with rifles don't they? M16 jams and sometimes one doesn't have time to get creative.

I agree with DigitalP. on this, since the switch delay it's just not viable to switch weapons in the middle of combat (to much down time). I would like us to get some sort of knock down, or stun attack......or something that we can do to a target besides just flame. We are a Ranged Profession that is designed to be in Melee range, our pre-reqs require unarmed, so then it would be viable to get some melee types of attack's/defenses or at the very least get some "Assault Toughness" so we can take a beating....you know they type of beating we are designed to take.

Not unless they add some sort of "Weapon Switch Speed" type mod's into professions that actually need it.

Oh the Under-Slung Carbine! As Garvin had asked one of the Dev's, what this could possibly be chalked up to is they are just putting the art into the game. By doing this does not mean it will actually be put into the game....but it would be nice. I suppose we will know more if/when/ever the doc's come out.

Hmmm...a Commmando Knife or some other type of Melee weapon...I've always been highly in favor of that (pushed hard for it awhile back
)to take advantage of our Melee Pre-req...
As for the Weapon Delay...that topic will be a big subject on the Sandbox...many Correspondents agree that the Delay, if it's really needed, should only effect weapons that are NOT profession related...I.E. if you go from a Commando weapon to a Rifleman weapon then there would be a delay, but if you go from a Commando Weapon to another Commando Weapon, there should be no delay...
BH and Commando both untilize different types of weapons to use ALL of our specials...this puts us at a clear disadvantage compared to professions that use the same weapon for ALL their specials...So both Tanks and I have pushed for either the removal of the delay for Hybrid professions or at the very least, for it's removal of same profession type weapons...Hopefully we can get the matter resolved on the Sandbox...

a Spec Ops Knife combined with a stealth skill makes me ready to cut some imperial throat's.
... but hey thats just me.... iam wird that way

it would have to come with a new sneack skill, so that your enemy cant see you until you attack, and it would have to do mind damage. i dont wanna slit throuts, i wanna stab heads!
if you could sneak up behind someone in PVP and have them not see you, and stab em in the head...
that would be sweetness.
