Thread: skill mods

Does anyone know what the skill mods do, a friend of mine ran into some of them and he can't use them, it's says something like + skill to defense vs. ranged, any help would be appreciated.

I got one that says cover +1. I can't put it into my socketed jacket. Maybe this is because my char is a Trando brawler? I was hoping to sell the jacket on the bazaar for a profit...

You take these Skill modifiers and put them into socketable clothing and armor. Much like 'Gems' from Diablo 2 if you ever played that.

If you can't insert them into the socketable clothing or armor, you may have to have the skill first to be able to insert the skill mod item. I'm not sure, just giving a guess on that problem.

thanks for at least giving a clue to what they are.... I think the manual writers should have included something about this in there...very confusing...so how long does the enhancer last?...is it timed, or does it go by how much you use it like a power-up?

i need a reference point to what +5, +10, and +20 mean. ok, the obvoius is that +10 is twice as good as +5. but, what does +5 mean compared to not having +5. hope i stated my question clearly enough.

Im wondering on how skill mods work. Do mods like resist posture change and resist stun work on a 0-100% chance to resist basis? If you have 20 resist knockdown will that mean that you resist knockdown shots and blows 20% of the time? Does 1 point of skill mod = 1%?

I've been wondering the same thing. Does +10 equate to a 10% increase in say Rifle Speed. Say I have a laser rifle that fires at a speed at 6.3. With a +10 in rifle speed do I now fire that same rifle at a rate of 5.7 seconds? How do these actually work?

I just hid novice CH a few days ago and i was wonderin about one skill mod. what is the max number of pet levels. i know that the higher max pet level u have the stronger creature u can tame, but i dont know what this skill mod is for....thanks

if you have 2 pets the sum of their levels cant be more than the max number of pet levels .otherwise you can't call them at the same time .. Funny thing is that you can have max number of pet level higher than max level of pet - which makes no freaking sense

I hate that, and it happens to me all the time. I can understand it happening when I'm burst running as the player moves much faster and the server might have trouble showing spawns fast enough, but when I'm just jogging around like normal it shouldn't be doing that.

+110 trapping - traps fail


+100 mask scent - breaks long before a +70 novice scouts does


+100 camouflage - breaks before a +70 novice scout's maskscent


+95 terrain negotiation - I outrun the server spawns time, everything spawns on top of me


+100 comprehension (in all languages) - I can understand them 100% of the time

How do I translate my CH related skill mods into real terms? I am a Wookie N.CH with 1/1/0/0. I will be heading ALL the way to M.CH, however I am trying to figure out the best approach to this. Specifically I want to figure out what is the highest level creatures I can tame as I head up the various limbs of our tree?
