Your best weapon is the weapon you like using the most.
Each weapon has its disadvatages and advantages.
There is no BEST WEAPON, people can rant and rave about this combat class and that combat class.
Your paying to pay this game , play with what weapon makes you happy.
For a ranged weapon class, if you like mobility go pistol and carb, if you like hitting hard and a challange go rifleman
For melee weapons, Fencer sweet and fast, TKA good all around melee prof , Swordsmenand Pikeman good damage dealers for the most part
For Hybrid Combat Classes, Smuggler, Commando, Bounty Hunter. now if you intent to master ranger get ready for very few skill points to invest in these classes as compared to others.
To point out again, there is no best weapon for a ranger. You are your own weapon, choosing a energy weapon against bloodseeker mite is not a good choice no matter how good that "weapon" might be, an alternative weapon, cold damage, stun damge might be a better choice FOR THAT TARGET.
What im getting at iseach target has its own strength and weakness, chose the weapon class you like the most and enjoy playing and from there choose the weapon that is most effective for that target.
Everyone has there own views on things, do what ever it takes to ensure that you enjoy both ranger and which ever weapon profession you choose.
as for everyone else telling you to do, Remember its you paying the bill

I am a TKA so that works for me. I agree with the other poster as what ever cobat class you want to be that is the best. Do what you enjoy in the game.
Use whatever weapon you like the best. Whatever fits your style of play the most. I use the LLC. I love it because of its high damage output. Hitting creatures for 5k is a good thing. Also, i can now hold my own in PvP. I mostly a PvE player. But at least i know if i need to, our if my guild is going on an imp raid, i can help out.
Just figure out what you would like to spend most of your time doing then find a weapon that will suit your needs.
Oh, and as for youYnkFan....dont forget....Cowboy Up!

That said, I use a LLC and can hit my specials for 6-7k random pool, but mostly health. Take a look at my sig and you will see the tradoff...it is very hard to have Ranger and BH and have ANY other skills like medic.
