I think this is just a marketing ploy to get potential new players. It was said that the CU was free, I think they are just using the CU to entice others to try SWG or old players to come back.

Saddly they say alot, yet for some reason whatever they say never seems to come true. I dont know guess we'll seein 2 months. Just prepare for the worst.
Well the CURB is a major change to the basic game mechanics on combat. Its going to have to be free, because you can't have people running around under two different combat systems.
Now most likely with the expansion will includethe new CU code and most likely a copy of all the publishes to date could possibly be on the expansion disk. But your not going to have to buy the expansion just to get the CURB, that will have to come as a publish just like the Jedi revamp.

- Driveable Vehicles...(im really REALLY hoping for this...)
- Added weapons/armour
- Specific rewards that fit into combat (like that AT-PT 2nd annisary reward for instanced...maybe in the 100 new missions we'll be getting new items that build upon the CU)
- Dual wield?
The cybernetics will be adding some combat bonuses according to the ign.com article...since thats already mentioned....and aside from the CU (which is free)...what else would be under this vague statement? Im thinking theres still quite a bit left to be found out...and its combat related to a point, where it heavily relies on the CU (hence they can't give it out maybe?)...

The new expansion however....Im hearing people complaining already that the new booster pack doesn't seem to be filled with a whole lot of content to have a justified 25$ bill...
I got a feeling there will be some *new* additions to the"combat system" (the CU), to put it, coming...
Ones that add onto the CU (and hence the need for a dual-Beta test, so the two can properly build upon each other). The statement they gave is vague, VERY vague...and Im really set on a hunch that this may imply:

"Combat Upgrade and the Upcoming New Expansion Announcement
We will be making an announcement very soon about the upcoming Star Wars Galaxies expansion pack. As work has developed side by side with the Combat Upgrade and this to-be-announced expansion, we have decided to run one beta test for both products simultaneously.
We want to assure everyone that the Combat Upgrade will be a *free update* for the live service.
As a special thank you to our CU testers for your patience, you will automatically be included in the expansion portion of the beta test.
Thank you.
