The main page annouced the new expansion, problem is this is one of the features.

"And experience the all new combat system featuring new weapons, new armor, new effects and an all new user-interface to make combat even more engaging and fun"

Sound familiar to anyone.

I think this is just a marketing ploy to get potential new players. It was said that the CU was free, I think they are just using the CU to entice others to try SWG or old players to come back.

Well the CURB is a major change to the basic game mechanics on combat. Its going to have to be free, because you can't have people running around under two different combat systems.

Now most likely with the expansion will includethe new CU code and most likely a copy of all the publishes to date could possibly be on the expansion disk. But your not going to have to buy the expansion just to get the CURB, that will have to come as a publish just like the Jedi revamp.

I dont know just one of those things we'll have to wait see. I wouldn't put it past SOE and LA to stick the CURB in a expansion, but yeah if they did alot of people probrably wouldnt purchase it if they did and you'd have 2 completly different systems running around. Like I said, we'll know for a fact in 2 months, until then everythings up in the air once again.

The CU will be free...it has been said more than a score amount of times...

The new expansion however....Im hearing people complaining already that the new booster pack doesn't seem to be filled with a whole lot of content to have a justified 25$ bill...

I got a feeling there will be some *new* additions to the"combat system" (the CU), to put it, coming...

Ones that add onto the CU (and hence the need for a dual-Beta test, so the two can properly build upon each other). The statement they gave is vague, VERY vague...and Im really set on a hunch that this may imply:

  • Driveable Vehicles...(im really REALLY hoping for this...)

  • Added weapons/armour

  • Specific rewards that fit into combat (like that AT-PT 2nd annisary reward for instanced...maybe in the 100 new missions we'll be getting new items that build upon the CU)

  • Dual wield?

The cybernetics will be adding some combat bonuses according to the ign.com article...since thats already mentioned....and aside from the CU (which is free)...what else would be under this vague statement? Im thinking theres still quite a bit left to be found out...and its combat related to a point, where it heavily relies on the CU (hence they can't give it out maybe?)...

I think these cybernetics sound cool but if they don't have a disadvantage to offset the whatever advantage they give then every is going to be running around with cybernetic parts. That will be silly but thats how it goes. I'm hoping they have a cpl more nice dungeons like the corvete instance based and worth while in there. I was really set on Hoth but I'm curious if they will be the multiple levels to Kash as there should be or if they will just make it teh lower level.

With it being stressed on wookies does that mean we have a lot of wookie oreinted content coming into the game? Don't know exactly what that would be but anyway... Surely tomrrow's FF will be on the expansion. Unfortunately I was hoping it would be on the CU but I doubt they will post on both. Lets hope there is a lot more in this exapnsion then what has been already said otherwise the price is a bit high IMHO.

Anyone notice that JtL is included in the expansion, but us original JtL had to pay 30 bucks, and still need to pay 25 bucks for something we basically already have?

If the 25 bucks quote was for JtL and the RotW it is a complete waste of money for any current JtL people to pay for RotW, I will give them the benefit of the doubt for this, but what a scam to make everyone buy JtL again if it is true.

Edit: Added the quote from SOE announcement:

"Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided™ and Jump to Lightspeed™ are required to play this expansion.Jump to Lightspeed is included with your order of the digital download expansion,Episode III Rage of the Wookies."

They're gonna have a retail box --- 3 weeks after the release of the digital download. So my guess may be thats the one that doesn't include JTL...if it does, then the digital downloading should be for JTL users ONLY, while the boxed version for those who want to get the expansion packs together.

Also, as for the CURB update being free or not, this is from the news clicks from the loader screen:
"Combat Upgrade and the Upcoming New Expansion Announcement

We will be making an announcement very soon about the upcoming Star Wars Galaxies expansion pack. As work has developed side by side with the Combat Upgrade and this to-be-announced expansion, we have decided to run one beta test for both products simultaneously.

We want to assure everyone that the Combat Upgrade will be a *free update* for the live service.

As a special thank you to our CU testers for your patience, you will automatically be included in the expansion portion of the beta test.

Thank you.
