Thread: This proves a point (grenade rant)

This proves a reason why grenades need to have their speed reset to the amount of speed per the weapon. I haven't tested it out yet regardless if I do I don't believe it would matter. I was rummaging around on my Radiant toon who is a master rifleman/BE and stumbled across a unique item that I had hanging on my wall that I had forgotten about. It said on the item fragmentation grenade instead of C22 that however wasn't what caught my eye. What caught my attention was when I examined it the stats on it said the grenade had .5 to speed and I bet 10 to 1 that if I had a commando and threw that weapon at and enemy it would still take 9 seconds for me to reload and fire another 1. When I get my 2nd toon I will try to confirm this hopefully we will get our just reward and due credit in the CURB. I want to see us being able to see people on fire, letting acid corrod their armor, and for us to be able to use a military style knife to take them down /cheer.

Im personally hoping that the changes to our grenades in the CU will resemble greatly of the KOTOR 'nades...now those were uber!


As for a corrosive nade, interesting thought =) (would be nice to pair up with our HAR)

Ah I hope our weapons hurt. I don't mind if they are slow and not the most accurate but a grenade ya think should take out half a persons HAM. Being near one should take a fourth and knock everybody down.

Being hit with a Rocket should be an instant kill however probably not the most accurate weapon. Rockets really I don't think aren't a good anti personal weapon. But they are still deadly.

Basically Grenades useful against NPCs and people, Rocket Launchers against Turrets and such. I hope they add some vehicles and stuff to blow up though.

The FT as I see would be a very deadly personal weapon, and should be a near instant kill hit weapon. If ya don't go down when being hit the Flame Dot should get ya. Cause people can survive being hit with a FT though they usually run around screaming or fight a few more seconds before they become a smoldering ruin. The FT should be a close range/ medium range weapon.

The LP should be an overall good weapon but devasting in buildings and close quarters. Send them little rockets right into those Kung Fu guys I say!

The rifle, be it the Acid Rifle which acts stupid and I hate kind of, Hope they replace it with Beam Rifle.

Our rifle should be long range weapon good for taking out armored stuff. If we keep the Acid Rifle it should be deadly in one fights cause getting sprayed with acid should hurt just as bad as an FT. However I don't thing it would be good mass fight weapon like the Flamethrower. The HAR would be good when you don't have or can't use an RL. You know when trying to take down a turret or perhaps burning a nasty SBD.

I sure hope in the CU SBDs will have 20K HAM so that they can be soloed but in numbers prove a challenge for a group. I mean think about the Corvette. SBDs should be a tough a unit they are a droid after all. But originally on the Corvette there were only like 5 maybe 10. Which means every Combat Prof. Master should be just able to take one down since the Corvette group can be no larger then 10.

The toughest NPCs would be like 50K HAM and require a couple people to take one down. No more of this 100K HAM stuff. Only NPCs that should have that much HAM are the guards of the Hero/Villians of Star Wars. The Heros/Villians themselves if they ever are in battles should be like 200K HAM. An AT-AT is right at about 250K HAM and AT-STs at 50K HAM. However AT-STs should only be made PvE usable. To be honest maybe it just shouldn't be a pet. It's rather stupid to pull an AT-ST out from no where.

It's my hope that Stormtroopers ina group of 6 or so can overpower a player. Perhaps bases can again some day have all Regular troops again as farming wouldn't be even possible. And any Rebel walking into an Imperial Outpost with all those STs would be dead in Seconds. Players should be able to take on about 5 Con Blues/3 Con Whites/2 Con Yellows/1 Con Red. Of course Con Reds should depend on HAM whether they can beaten by one person. Oh I rambling again. I just hope the CU makes it so we can have normal STs and Rebels like we use to that would be challenging enough in numbers and people won't camp Fort Tusken but instead raid the place in groups every now and then and missions chalenge players. I think Commandos are really the only balanced profession in this game ya know when don't have Buffs and Comp. Hopefully the days of Comp and Buffs will go away and ST armor will be good and RIS and Mandlorian Armors treasures. TKMs and melee folks wouldn't wear armor much if at all. Blaster folk should be able to wear heavier armor cause they natrually have less defenses and don't need to move as much or as fast all the time.

heh heh umm the corrosive nade thing I don't think I remeber saying I ment it for the HAR like a Fire DoT but the corrosive DoT added to the glop grenade would be a great idea and the proton nade doing a fire DoT would be great as well. Would have to make it so rifleman would do a special ability like precision targeting so that we the Commando elite could stick the DoT onto the enemy causing more dmg. The corrosive DoT like a poison marker except with wavy lines around it would come from either the HAR or the glop grenades and would only stack with the flamethrower preventing multiple DoT stacking. Plus another thing to throw in would be making it a random pool dmg so that it makes it more interesting so that you can flame single and acid single 2 cause max dmg and having both be possible to hit random pools. We could become the heavy hitter profession that we so richly deserve. Anyways hopefully the grenades will be adjusted so that it reflects their speed.

I agree with the poster that said the grenades should have a knock down effect, or at least some state effects.Why are people still standing when a proton goes off at their feet?


Perhaps even just a stun or dizzy at the lower levels, or a delay like warcry.
