Thread: Respecing after Second Comments
Was wondering what everyone was thinking of doing skill wise after second comments.
I am going to take a bold position and forget about Terrain Neg. After thinking on it, the17 pts needed to get lvl I, just are not worth what you can get as far as defensive mods in my template.
Master Commando (169pts)
Master Pistoleer (63pts)
That leaves 18 to "burn."
Being PvP minded, Explore is tough to pass up, but I could only get level one. It is situational at best, being only appliable when running up a hill. Based on that, I decided that I will take TK, and spec out to level III in Precision Striking.
Level 1 gives +5 to both ranged and melee defense.
Level 2 gives +10 to both ranged and melee defense.
Level 3 gives another +5 to both ranged and melee.
Its tough to pass up +40 in total defense.
Thoughts?
Thanks for the post. I think this is the proper way to go for those serious about the Commando profession with the news as it is, however, I sincerely doubt that the devs really intended for us to master pistoleer.
I am no dev, and lord knows what goes through their minds, but i am giving them the benefit of the doubt on this one. Has anyone heard any word from the devs if this is what was intended? Anything? Anyone?
Thanks,
Issiri - Novice Commando - Scylla
Id like to point out something:
When I first read the developer post, I thought that he "Launcher Pistol" was a "Heavy Weapon" that used only the specials for the pistol line. This is incorrect. The Launch Pistol is a pistol that (will give) gives Heavy Weapon exp. This is an important distinction. If you look at the pace of our accuracy increases, they are bigger jumps than at the other "elite" marksmen specialists. Pistols get +5s and +10s while we get +15s and more. The reason this is so, is so that we can "make up" for not having a novice option (ie novice pistol branch). In the end, it puts us as still missing a bit more than with a pistol, but its an 80-105 split instead of a 0-70 split at the novice levels.
Our advancement comes in leaps and bounds, thiers is more of a progression. That being said the most efficient way to advance in Commando, is to get to Master Pistoleer first. Using our "general" use "Launcher Pistol" which operates as a pistol, and not as a heavy weapon for stat modifiers is key because it gives heavy weapon exp without having to suffer from the 0-70 accuracy split.
If we go to master pistoleer first, we get the 105 accuracy (not to mention the speed and the running whilemods), for our heavy weapon exp. So our "situational weapons" for a commando, will actually be the very last thing to achieve if you want to operate effectively.
Kind of a shame that it will probaby take the same time to get Master Pistoleer and then Commando, as it would to concentrate solely on Commando. At any rate, at least we know our course now.
