I'm attemtpting be be a commando and part of this profession is unarmed combat. The 3 guns are going fine (pistol, carbine and rifle), but this un-armed combatv stuff is tough.

Ok, now I was fighting a chuba by myself with nothing else within a mile and I got half killed before I took out my pistol and just blasted it with a couple shots to get ot over with. I ended up with 4 (!!!!!!!!!) unarmed combat points, 4!!

Ok, am I missing something? I'm pretty sure I can't use an axe or anything since it is 'un-armed combat'

Any advice so I can actually fight something with my feet/hands and not just flail at them like I'm 6 years old??

1. Armor

2. Berserk

3. Vibro Knuckles

Thats all i used through the whole tree line and i made it pretty quick. Berserk lets u unleash alot of attacks at once and the vibroknuckles give ya more dmg. Armor is well just for protection. Also a good way to get xp is to fight NPCs in towns or from Anchorhead-Wayfar there are alot. Its a long run but theres alot of badies on the way. Also try some jabba missions, alot of em are just killing NPCs and doing it with unarmed is great xp. Anyways thats just my 2 cents and thats how i did it. -Aikada/Gorath server/Everywhere yet nowhere.

ok, is this vibro knuckles or something else? Is berserk a good thing to use also, or does it take up at much action points as say, running?

Get some knucks. I got a pair with 109 max damage and 2.1 speed and made both expert and master unarmed in the same day. They make a huge difference. I was resting after 3 durnis before.

Chance you'll find them on a bazaar is pretty slim. Ours run 8K, so must be on a vendor. Bazaar caps at 3K.

For you and all other aspiring commandos, here is The Secret to getting thru the unarmed combat grind.

First off, get a GOOD vibroknuckler. Any speed below 2.5 and damage above 90 will do. Don't sweat HAM costs. Then do the following.

1.) Remap some unused keys to do two things. Target yourself and heal damage.

2.) Get lots of stimpacks.

3.) Find a fairly reliable static spawn of humanoid NPC's. First two levels, use Meatlump, Ragtag or similar type of thugs. Expert and above, swoops.

4.) Get just inside aggro range for the NPC's and JUST STAND THERE. Don't use specials, just hit the escape key after one dies to clear targeting. Watch your health, use stims as necessary, just make sure to clear targeting afterwards.

5.) Loot as necessary. I made a good 20-25k off of these NPC's while getting to Master Unarmed.

If you follow these steps, you can finish the unarmed tree in 8-10 hours of game time.

Heh starting on a new server unarmed is the easiest to get with the lack of weapon availability. Just spam berserk against mobs that give relatively low exp. 60-150 for the first skill. 100-300 for the second and so on an so forth. Unarmed is really not all that difficult. If you are going to use berserk though try to have it active just b4 you hit the mob you want to hit. Its no fun when u fail to get berserk 4-5 or more times in a row then realize oh crap 1/4 to 1/2 of my pools are gone already.

Abso;utely critical to et vibro knucklers. My pair (sliced) does 133 damage at 1.6 attack speed.

Also the further up the unarmed tree ya go, the less beserk you'll need. I don't even have it setup anymore but that's partly because its boring since once you hit berserk all you can do is sit there and watch what happens.
