Friend of mine isnt' in game right now so I loaded up test to check commando out for him. While everything was nice, and fun, and we had a few suprises (like Assault armor and how he can use the Proton Rifle at master haha) there were a few 'huh?' moments. Like how the profession is the only one with no special moves. Considering you HAVE to use specials now because there is no generic auto-attack, I'm wondering if this is bugged or if something else is going on.
Are the devs perhaps working on the specials and haven't put them in yet? Is it a bug? Is it intential with a good reason?
Thanks in advance. I did notice with a little testing that his weapons seem to do special things. Like the rocket launcher was knocking people over like every 1 in 15 shots or so.
Oh spotted a bug too. The flamethrower required Incindiary 3 and level 40. But with just commando 2/1/3/1, my test characters level was 27 or so. I saw the devs say you should always have met the level req by the time you hit the skill req so I think the devs have to tone down the level req on it to like 20... or a level you would be by default if you were 0/0/3/0 commando and nothing else.
Other then that it was a blast. I loaded up a few more skills to get the flamethrower. Went 2/2/3/2 commando and 4/0/0/0 rifleman and used Aim and Sniper shot with the rocket launcher from 64m to put a serious dent into the mobs I was fighting. What mobs I could fight that is. Mobs over level 30 or so seem to heal SUPER fast and even at level 27, 2 level 15 NPC's ripped me a new one by just blasting me for about 70dmg a shot REALLY fast. I couldn't keep up with them even though I was doing like 600dmg a shot!
But thats besides the point. Basicly I'm just wondering why commando's dont have any special moves when everyone else does.

The commando "specials" are built into the weapons. They are not true specials, just usually a state effect, like knockdown on the rocket launcher or the flame dot on the flamethrowers. Commandos are intended to use the specials from other professions; for instance, my toon on TC is a MCommando/MBH/Pistoleer 0/0/0/4. I use BH specials to do my dirty working, though on commando weapons. I also use improved stopping shot from pistoleer to root my target, as BH does not have a root attack (root is a MUST for any ranged profession). All of these work with commando weapons - i.e. I can eyeshot someone with a flamethrower. /evil
EDIT: as for the mobs regening HAM really fast, this is a bug (known as the "rubberband-HAM" bug). Basically, they're regenning the damage you inflict on them for some reason or other. This is a Known Problem and the Devs are working on it.

Ah ok. Would still be nice if they had at least a special per tree or.. at the VERY least a master special. It's nice that the weapons do state effects and that makes up for it but still. Would be nice.
Having done a little more testing, I think my buddy is gonna love commando now

well not really, cause then anyone else could use it, takeing away formour specialness. If we get any it should be one at master and it requires the use of a hvy weapon no carbineer useing my special with a damn carbine. but i like how we now can bayonet attack ppl, firearm strike is so cool
