Ok, I'm too lazy to search for it, but I think noone has posted a report on it: How our AoE weapons stack with AoE attacks.

As we have it now, we have to different AoE attacks, cone and radius. What I'm wondering is how it will play out if using a AoE weapon with an AoE attack. Will they stack, will only one be used?
I gather that the cone effects will just test against eachother and the widest one be used.
The fun can be with the radial weapons and cone attacks. What happens if I use a radial AoE weapon (RL) with a cone-type attack (fullautoarea, fanshot) and the enemys are close enough together? Since you are suppose to hit everyone in the cone, and you have a radial AoE in the weapon, will it hit everyone again with the AoE effect, effectivly upping the damage by a factor of the number of enemys?

I don't seem to be able to get onto TC long enough to test this.

I have not tested this, but from how things work on live now, AoE works purely based on your target. I would think that as both the attack and the weapon have the same target, their AoE's would work independently and not stack.

hmmm well I would have to wonder if they do stack. imagine a 30degree cone with a 5m splash radius around all targets it would theoritically add about 5m on both sides of the cone

Option A: AOE stacks with AOE

  • if it does then each target in the beaten zone of theaoe attack could be hit multiple times by splash radius damage from other targets near it (YIKES!)

    • group of 5 together -firerocket launcherat target in middle - it splashes and hits all the targets , the aoe kicks in and targets another in the group - splash hits all targets etc etc etc

    • knockdown attempt for each splash hit on all targets 5x5x5x5x5 = 3125 possible splashs and attempts at knockdown

Option B: AOE does not stack

  • the aoe on the weapon only affects the first target and not all subsequent targets in the weapon beat down zone.

I wonder how that would work with cone attacks like fanshot...
